W 4-1 vs Sheppey United (A) - FA Cup First Round - Fri 3rd Nov, 7:45pm

Adam Virgo is probably the best commentator/ co Comms on the TV
Extremely knowledgeable and unbiased especially regarding the lower leagues , much more comfortable than when you hear high profile pundits trying to make you believe they know what they’re on about when they have to lower themselves into the lower leagues

One thing he missed was that, when Bradshaw went off injured, he did not mention that Tom used to play for us but yes, he was on the ball and knew more about Knowles than Knowles does himself.

Karen Carney is always good when I hear her on R5L. Virgo was OK but I hoped he would start doing some impressions like he used to do on the snooker.

Won 4-1 and Twitter is a cesspit of negativity wanting Sadler out :joy:

Come on Sadler mate you’ve had all of August, September and October to perfect absolutely everything, not good enough, time to go!

Live in the now. :+1:
I know we don’t always agree, but as some one who’s been married to a Zen Buddhist for nearly 30 years, spot on.

That is some of what I was hoping for last night. :grinning:

The only issue being we never live in the physical ‘now’ but that’s for another thread

Good post…I watched the game in my bowling club. Some of the people watching were not Walsall fans and all agreed we should have won more easily. I didn’t realise until I read through this thread how many “perfectionists” we have on here. They clearly never make a mistake or fail in a task. If only the Country had more of these people…we would be world beaters!!!

Not perfectionists, just a small number with an agenda.

Cheap i reckon…but totally agree he has nothing about him…draper or DJ would have had at least 3 goals last night

He knows the lower leagues very well. Great knowledge and understanding of what goes on in our league and below. Wish more pundits were like him :+1:

Where’s the cue ball going???

There’s only around four of them mate. Nowhere near representative. But they are relentless tweeters so absorb far too much Walsall Twitter oxygen. Like a lot of Twitter it’s mainly about getting attention. Some take “look at me” to new levels. I wouldn’t waste too much time.

I don’t get all this angst about a young player trying to make his way in the game. He scored the key goal last night, had one kicked off the line, was instrumental in the 4th goal. and never stopped running all night. I doubt he will make it at EFL level but I am pleased we have given him that chance. Hopefully if the Academy improves we will see young players like him given similar chances and I hope they will receive more support than this lad gets on here.

Didn’t have the best journey down but it was worth it in the end.
My initial impression was that they could have easily given us more tickets than they actually did because a lot of good and loyal fans missed out, there was certainly room for another two or three hundred.
As to the match itself we avoided the banana skin and it felt comfortable most of the time.
The DJ omission must have surprised many but at least it avoided risking him being injured.
First twenty minutes DD looked all over the place although in fairness he settled down after that. Good to see OM back as he made a difference.
Yes Evans made a complete hash of things coming for a cross in the second half but we got away with it and won, first team into round 2.
I’d love to draw another non league side to give us a chance of mouthwatering tie.

Good post @Sondek

By the way, I’ve only just zoomed into your avatar to discover that it is a record player - I thought it was one of the robots from the Smash adverts from the 1980s at first! :grinning:

It’s my turntable (Linn Klimax) aka the LP12.
I love music but always wanted to put together a top end hi fi system so I could get the best out of my record collection.

Linn Klimax sounds very Alan Partridge but, I speak in jest, not to cause any offence!

She also sounds a bit like Liam Kinsella.

@Thanatos will not be happy! :grinning:

Had me thinking the last time Walsall were shown live on free to air TV for the nation to have a curiosity glance at.

Was the Darlington replay in 2019 on ITV 4 or BT?

Beyond that I’m guessing playing West Brom away in Jan 2002 but even that wouldn’t have been on the other ITV regions.

Day after Jeff Astle passed and Sir Ray’s last in charge so a very very long time ago.
