W 4-1 vs Sheppey United (A) - FA Cup First Round - Fri 3rd Nov, 7:45pm

Say what you like about Flynn but he can organize a defence properly.

Some lovely comments on their match day thread.

That’s the first time I’ve seen us play since the Leicester match last January. Having no idea on how we play and whether we are capable or not and just seeing the brief match highlights of horror show defending and opinions of UTS posters, I feared a potentially miserable outcome against presumed battlers. So, in splendid isolation I was able to watch the match without (much) prejudice and in doing so I have to say that I thought we were pretty good overall.

Clearly Sheppey weren’t up to much and what they did have, we dealt with competently barring about three instances of pressure including their goal.

I would suspect that neutrals watching that would have been quite impressed with us as we virtually controlled every minute of the match and took it very seriously despite not fielding a “first choice” striker. Notwithstanding falling behind, it never felt as if we were in trouble and it became a very comfortable evening. I could say the obvious that Riley looked poor for the first half especially and it seemed that Evans could have done better with the goal, but other than that it would be churlish to complain.

In and of itself it was a pretty good display based on the circumstances, however clearly from results and reports that is something we are unable to replicate on anything like a consistent basis presumably because of the standard of opposition we normally face being far superior to Sheppey and our limitations.

Their asking why they’ve extended his contract .If it stays like this I will have to find his post match interview, it’ll be like having an itch and not scratching it if I don’t.

Imagine!! Somehow, Swindon have got to find themselves 4 goals to get back into the game. They need somebody who makes things happen, someone who plays on the front foot, someone who knows where the goal is. “Kins, get ready to go on”

“Fear not. Kinsella’s on”

I assume this is sarcasm

Just spotted a “Flynn Out” post.

He brought Kins on to tighten the defence…10 minutes later, they’ve let a further 3 goals in
