Ah, but what about sea lochs/firths/fjords? Where’s the line there.
NB I don’t have a geography degree, so I’m speculating.
After Googling, if you include Scotland, it’s Arbroath FC which is 5metres away from the sea at high tide.
Also the closest to the sea in Europe.
Smokin’ answer.
Yes you can see the sea wave hit the players in the link I posted
I’m going for a 2-1 win to the Saddlers today.
Ready to watch on I-follow as Grimsby and Southampton in the space of 5 days is just too much travelling.
It’s right next to the sea wall, and it’s also the coldest ground in the UK. I can vouch for that, having been to a pre-season friendly there in the late eighties, Arbroath v Aberdeen. It was bitterly cold with the wind sweeping in off the sea, even in July.
With Southampton away coming up I’d advise Saddlers fans to wrap up warm.
Last time I went to St. Mary’s about 20 years ago it was at New Year and it was f***ing freezing. Although you’re a bit further inland the cold air comes up from The Solent and up the River Itchen. The ground is about 100m from the river.
Is this team capable of finishing higher up the table than we have in previous years? Games like this after the two results we’ve just witnessed are key to that higher finish in my opinion.
Wherever we finish today, there’s every chance we shall slip three or four places over the next couple of weeks by dint of still being in the cup followed by the toughest fixture in the league.
We’re now around where I expected us to be. Typically for Walsall, we’ve taken the least obvious route to get here! The next four weeks are huge for all sorts of reasons. Springing off the month/year with a win today would be ideal, but I wouldn’t back us in a game like this. Win today, and that old bastard called “hope” could re-enter our lives.
If they’re at home, they tend to win 2-0…
Dougie up front over DJ.
I still think it’s mad. But Sadler earns my patience after last few games.
Menayese on the bench but no Williams.
Looks like
Smith
Okabague
DD
Farq
Knowles
Gordon
Comley
Earring
Draper
Hutch
DJT
Bye Bye Danny
DJT to do the running, DJ to come on to score the winner. 2-1 saddlers.
He will play Evans up front before he brings Johnson on
Dj is a red
dj is a red
dj is a red
sadler hates dj
Just had some very nice fish, chips and gravy from Pip’s (a very short walk further on towards Cleethorpes). Quite a queue of home fans - and they were delicious. The woman serving me apologised tgat it was only ordinary gravy on as she’d not had time to make the usual liver and onions one today.
Surely we got players that can make the numbers on the bench
Griffiths, Marv, Dylan Thomas … Unless someone got injured getting in the coach this morning .
Still think there is enough there for a 2-1win
