Mentioned on the transfer thread but thought it merited a thread of its own. Really fascinating interview with the gaffer on the club media reviewing last season in depth and looking forward to next season. Some of the highlights include:
-Mats all inclusive fortnight in Palma Nova with his wife and 3 kids
-Discussing the club’s fantastic home form, only 5 defeats on our patch all season
-Turning over all of the divisions big boys at home
-Promises to continue to deliver a team the fans can be proud of
-The 2nd half of the season form being up there with the very best
-The cruel luck we suffered with injuries, particularly at centre half
-The fantastic togetherness in the group
-Not getting the results we often deserved to (Crewe away and Bradford at home we’re looking at you)
-The wonderful Christmas gifts Sadler provided to us culminating in the ‘historic’ win at Grimsby
-The fairytale return of Rolin and his goal against Barrow
-The success of replacing Draper with Faal and Gordon, (two good signings)
-The attractiveness of us as a football club for young loan players
-Sadlers pride in bringing all of the fantastic people in the football club together
-The good core group and foundation we have for a successful new season
-The drive to hit the ground running next season and continue the good form from the latter part of last season
-Focus on the players we have but acknowledging the loan players that have gone back will need to be replaced
-The ongoing disruption at Birmingham Airport
-The ‘perfect’ end to pre season at Solihull, a hugely tough fixture
-An extra week off for Captain Fantastic, Liam Gordon and Brandon Cumley

I’d rather have rusty pins inserted into my eyes than watch the self aggrandising of MS

Not bothered listening to it. Maybe when they have an interview where someone is allowed to ask an awkward question. It’s like a press conference held in the Kremlin holding Putin to account.

I think that’s what riles people up with Sadler.
I get that coaches want to put a positive spin on things - but don’t dress up when we’ve been rubbish, or the average season we have just had.
I can’t think of one occasion last season when Sadler said he got something wrong, or that we were rubbish. Not once.
We get comments like ‘that’s not us’ - despite really being us. Those sorts of comments wind people up.
For me, Sadler as a coach needs to work on when to be supportive and optimistic; but also read the room and call it shite when it’s shite.

It was all stage-managed with the 2 media guys doing the usual bigging up of everyone at the club.
Totally unwatchable and predictable tripe.
Nothing for fans to feel excited about, and not likely to move any more season ticket sales.

Having read that summary presented by Crod i assume it is littered with piss takes or there is a qualified master of spin at work.
We improved significantly when the young CBs were thrown together.
Great second half of the season getting spanked and humiliated a few times and crumbling in the final quarter.
We werent particularly unlucky with some of the results we just had an inability to defend and hold on.
Jesus wept. Its stuff like this that makes Sadler sound like Mohammed Saeed al Sahaf.

It’s the modern thing though isn’t it? You can’t criticise because people fall to pieces and start on with their mental health. There’s a lot of talk about DD being a great captain, well to me, a great captain supports and gives bollockings when necessary. But watch DD during a game, he’s so quiet, there is no telling others to get into position or close down, just little hand taps.
From Sadler down, it’s all too nice with no one taking accountability for poor performances.

Utter tripe from start to finish…. Sadler sadly believes his own bullshit. I am sick of slick media waffle papering over ever expanding cracks in the football side of, oh yeah, a Football Club. But let’s not worry cos all of the Euro games will be shown in The Locker, Villa are sending there youth side over and allowing us to keep the cash generated from the sausage rolls and then they are once again gonna use our stadium for free for their own friendlies. I am becoming increasingly irritated by Sadler and his “bandwagon” … we need to hear about signings and then everything else you can keep to yourself

Are we the only 2 fans who are sick of all the spin put out by the club? Give us some reality for a change. Are they interested in moving forward or not? If not, don’t expect those ‘terrific supporters’ they constantly mention to continue to fall for the nonsense they spout. (Rant over!).
I liked the part where Sadler claimed to not be the sort of person who looks back on things, and then proceeds to have a 45 minute interview doing exactly that…

There was a point in the interview where Sadler turned the praise back on the media guys after they had spent the preceding 15 minutes praising him, they were literally all gushing over one another.
There was plenty of love in that room.

I had to turn it off. It’s embarrassing.

Agreed. Just scripted rubbish. Didn’t tell the fans anything

Some of the criticism is clearly over the top but as I posted elsewhere the comments on recruitment for next season were deeply disappointing .Indeed I would have preferred a video spending 5 minutes looking back and 20 minutes looking forward. If we are to challenge we need additional quality especially in the forward positions and that will cost money. Are Trivela prepared to do that? Perhaps a question to be asked at the Fans Forum on the 27th of June.Unfortunately I will not be there as I have a bowling match but I think they should be pressed on this. Gates the highest for 16 years…now is the time invest in the team in my view.

Was he “Comical Ali”? He was the father of all spin - he made Alastair Campbell look like Mother Teresa!!

I listened to it and found it tedious, I’m sure MS is a nice person but Christ he drones on.
I don’t need to hear a recap of the season gone because I was at the games.
What I want to know is what to expect from the new season.
I’m not naive enough to expect details of ongoing discussions but surely those pair could actually ask or at least push him a little more.
