Walsall FC v Chelsea under 8’s EFL Trophy 3/12/2019

Saw Geordie and Timbuktu chatting odds at half time and had a cheeky couple of quid at 40/1. Thank you chaps! Hope you both wagered more than me.

If you’re at Vale let me buy you a pint!

Didn’t see that coming!
Even though it’s a crap competition a trip to Wembley at the end of an awful year to be a Saddler would be quite nice.

First half was poor, but second much better. I hope from now, there will be better results. In league too, of course. And another round, that’s something I thought will be rather impossible. Gelling part is over I think.

Awful competition but credit where it’s due, that’s an excellent comeback. Well done to the lads, hopefully a bit more confidence heading into the Vale game.

That has GOT to fill the players with confidence

Great comeback, credit to the team. How much better did the team look with the likes of hardy and Bates on the pitch? Would be good to get comments from those there or watched it.
Must be one of our youngest and smallest midfields ever with Hardy, Bates, kinsella and McDonald!!

Michal let us all know next time you’re betting against us, so we can all lump on…

Only kidding mate.

I had a tenna at 33s I cashed out when we scored 298 quid, nice touch this side of Xmas.
Well done to DC and the lads a few more quid in the pot for January.

Well done DC, the players and them that had on :+1:

As well as UTS swimming in cash this evening that’s another £20k prize money into the club’s coffers and we might have made a few grand from match receipts too.

With one thing and another we’ve earned a few quid over the last few weeks.

McDonald scored. Puts him firmly on the radar of other clubs for January. Southend and Kilmarnock already sniffing around apparently. We may have missed the boat on this one.

Awful 1st half.
Did we improve before or after Holden was replaced by Hardy?
Not a great Kinsella fan, but he was brilliant tonight. My MotM.

Roberts - not sure what he could do about either of the goals
Facey - hit and miss
CC-M - injured after 5 minutes
replaced by Korey Roberts - Probs the only centre back we have who can come forward with the ball and pass it, but too many passes were poor.
Scarr - solid but not spectacular
Clarke - thought he did really well at left back, keep him there for the weekend

Guthrie - slow, caught in possession too often
Kinsella - magnificent, kept winning loose balls and breaking up attacks

Holden - poor. Needs a break from the 1st team for 26 weeks
Gaffney - worked hard, 2 assists but not a striker
Lavery - worked hard, better than Gaffney in front of goal
McDonald - more hot than cold, wish he could be more consistent

Subs
Hardy - didn’t do too much but didn’t give the ball away unlike Holden
Bates - works well with Kinsella provides the energy Guthrie lacks

Overall we deserved to win, but 1st half was embarrassing.
