Walsall v Forest Green Rovers (H) 12 Nov, Mickey Mouse Cup

This has got to do Gordon’s confidence the World of good. Regardless of opposition this has been a massive boost for everyone.

Thank god for all the training :joy::joy:

Wow! I don’t think anyone expected that.
I know we were playing inferior opposition, but we were relentless tonight. What a confidence-building performance that was…desperately needed.
Josh showed me something tonight, great hat-trick, very pleased for the lad, long may it continue.
McDonald terrified their defenders with his pace and trickery, he certainly deserved his goal.
We finally came together as a team, playing practically faultless football, everyone played well, even Holden. Well done lads!
Special mention the the referee who I thought had an excellent game. Every decision was spot on. He is definitely the best official I’ve seen this season by a country mile. He’s destined for higher leagues.

Finally the Saddlers turn up. The whole club needed this tonight. Chuffed for DC, delighted for Gordon, clean sheet for Robbo, McDonald having a blinder. I really hope this is the turning point for us to start climbing up the table. UTS! Some pride restored at last. Well done lads!!

Just what we needed regardless of the opposition.

SAme ammount as us too darlo next week id guess

6-0 6 bloody nil.

Magnificent result and performance, hopefully it gives the whole squad and support a lift and we can take it into Saturdays game.

Great team performance and a very impressive scoreline, against a very poor side.
Hopefully its injected some confidence into the team
We will struggle defensively though with that line up, against decent opposition.

Maybe, because 3 and a half stands were closed, the team thought it was a training match?

Desperately needed that. Yes it’s a ■■■■ competition but a big win will surely give them a bit more belief than they had at 5pm Saturday.

Regardless of the opposition, for months we’ve been crying out for the team to take chances - and they’ve done exactly that tonight. It’s also very refreshing to see them put in a professional performance - something that has been lacking of late. Well done.

Can you ask your wife to text her back, and ask if Nick’s available for Saturday??

Hopefully kick on , in the scheme of things a small step but well done for tonight
Hopefully it’s cemented Lavery and Gordon as the front two , and DC tries to get a reasonably settled 11

It was FGR yoof - and only 10 of them for nearly all the 2nd half - but you can only beat who’s in front of you so I’ll take that. If you count Darlaston last week, that’s now 3 unbeaten!

Pleased for Josh, and the potential partnership you could see between him and the unselfish Lavery. Also heartened by the performance of several others - including Holden in a more free ranging role, and CCM behind MotM contender McDonald.

However, let’s not get carried away as there were still things to be worried about - the acres of space we gave FGR down their right wing (thank goodness they couldn’t exploit it), dodginess and misplaced passes by the usual suspects at the back that threatened the clean sheet, and Adebayo possibly having more opportunities than fell to Gordon in the half hour he was on yet failing to take any of them.

I hope they take the confidence and sharpness into the game against Cambridge, but please leave out the sloppiness as their first team will be a harder nut to crack than we faced tonight.
