Should we receive any money for Lutron’s promotion to the Premiership I would imagine it would go towards paying down the debt, at least that would be the smart thing to do. None of us know how much the payment will be, we can speculate but does any fan actually know the exact amount?
Our club can’t afford to be almost a million pounds in debt, a big burden for a L2 club fighting to survive. I fear we’re not the only club(at this level) facing mounting debt. Yes, we’ve made a small profit for decades, so any extra funds coming in needs to service the debt.
Too many clubs operate in the red, and, imho, it’s fiscally irresponsible to continue this practice.
The sooner we can erase the 700K from the books, I for one will breathe a little easier.
Rant over!
Money from Luton, money from the cup run… I can’t wait for next season we should smash it
A £700K loss doesn’t necessarily equate to a £700K debt that has to be paid - that is way too simplistic a take.
Yes the club should already be financing that debt. Pomlett said theyd recoup that back .
The season tickets and increased attendances from the last season will smash into that. Oh i forgot we will dribble our way to 10k profit on 6 million turnover. Theres Rico,Ade and Facup monies to add this financial year. No excuses!!!. Dont forget there will be 2 matches with an away following of 2/3k to add
This is where Trivela badly need to change perceptions.
Bonser has gone four years now and yet the same old narratives are regularly trotted out.
Pomlett didn’t help either giving miniscule budgets during Covid while claiming club would be in much better position compared to many others once it was all over.
I do think Trivela put in a decent amount in January given Stevens, Matt, Willmott and Songo’o were all established league two players but ultimately none of them could help the club stay even top half so it was just spend poorly.
They shouldn’t be deterred though and bonus of Adebayo going to premier league should be a decent amount in budget to find the next one and develop him aswell.
Yeah that debt wasn’t a sudden black hole that appeared. They knew it would be happening and they should have managed budgets accordingly.
If they have prepared for that debt by crossing their fingers and hoping Luton do us a favour then then it is an incredibly worrying sign, and I doubt that is the case.
So which one is it, do we have extra funds to pressure the club into making sure it is spent to help Sadler to have a better squad, or are we financially mismanaged?
Don’t let the money disappear with Walsall Football Club having nothing to show for it, we’ve been here before.
The Lutron money is an added bonus really.
Look how long we waited for a Troy Deeny sale…never happened. The same can be said about Rico Henry, no transfers or England call ups. If it happens it will when it’s supposed to.
Deeney was an unfortunate one, that would have been a real biggy had the transfer gone through.
We have done alright out of Rico to be fair. From what I have picked up, we have received several payments for appearances made for Brentford and one for them being promoted to the Premier League. I haven’t seen him play for Brentford so I don’t know how good he is now, but you can bet your life the vultures would be circling if he was as good as some say.
You are right the Adebayo money is a bonus, same as payments for Rico, Tom Bradshaw’s move to Millwall and cup run money which the club have previously said is not budgeted for. The money should be used sensibly but it would be good to see some of it help the team rather than disappear down the apparent never ending black hole.
Announce promotion by January! No danger.
It’s a disgrace Southgate keeps ignoring him.
SSShhhh, infrastructure it’s called. :
Yes, it seems to have paid off too, for someone anyway.
I have! He’s good. Regularly an ‘8’ when it comes to performance ratings and he’s one of those who Frank says it will take silly money to prise him away from the Bees. Frank has been pushing for a Rico England call-up for ages. Perhaps that’s why stubborn Southgate won’t pick him.
Seen him 3 times this season live, and he’s been excellent each time, totally ran the show down the left when they played Man City away earlier in the season.
Debt is only a bad thing - if you can’t service that debt.
And as someone on here rightly said - a loss does not transfer to being a debt.
I know some very rich people who only play with the “banks” and “other peoples money”. They stay wealthy and get wealthier. Complicated game.
Invest in infrastructure and reap the rewards!
Agreed. He has had a fantastic season this season. Fair play to him.
Remember the the first time I saw Rico it was at chasetown fc when walsall played there reserves matches on there ground .me and my bother looked at each other and said WOW that kids gonna be some player .had a few good kids besides rico in the reserves Dean Smith was a in regular attendance running the rule over then .in those days .
I agree with what Fish said about Rico’s play for Brentford. I’ve seen quite a few game of the games they’ve played this season and yes, he is quite good. Solid defensively and loves to go forward utilizing his speed and crossing ability. I would like to see him less selfish and shoot more often.
Is he England material? Possibly. Unfortunately for Rico, there seems to be quite a few LB’s occupying that position for their country. Luke Shaw has made it his, so unless he loses form or gets injured, Rico has really got to pick up his form to attract Southgate’s attention.
I know Thomas Frank (who I rate highly) has been pushing Henry for a call up, push harder Tom, it might happen one day soon.
