Who should we keep?

O agrre but Gordon has been with us 3 years now. I think he will want to move on regardless of the division we are in. There will be enough teams interested to price us out of an auction for him.

In the midst of us being decent still I pointed out this …. Just as he got a new contract. We’ve seen a few cycles of SadZBall as @KingCrod calls it. Erratic is my name for it. It’s dangerous.

Here is a quote of me trolling … while knowing this outcome was inevitable

Nobody wanted to discuss this point back in January. Hot topic now !

If we did somehow go up then we would be better placed to keep the loans. Stoke will want Simkin to have a season in league 1. I think we can do better.
Birmingham would be happy for Hall to be league 1. He won’t get in their Champ squad and his injury record probably rules out much interest in a permanent deal elsewhere yet.
I would be asking for Lowe back as well and think we would have a chance in league 1.

Simkin - Will go back to Stoke, not sure whether I’d have him back for another season.
Hornby - Release
Allen - Keep
Okagbue - Keep
McEntee - Keep
Williams - Keep, but think he’ll move on
Daniels - I think he’ll be kept on
Farquharson - Release
Gordon - Keep
Weir - Keep
Barrett - Keep
Browne - Keep
Asiimwe - Will go back, Ahui will be here in the summer
Stirk - Keep
Chang - Maybe try and sign?
Comley - Under contract, so can’t see him leaving
Hall - try and sign
Lakin - Keep
Jellis - See Williams
Earing - Release
Maher - I think we’ll offer him a deal but he’ll move on, that way we can get a fee for him. Would happily keep though.
Adomah - Keep
Harrison - Undecided, depends what division we’re in
Gordon - See Comley
Amantchi - Keep
Johnson - Release
Matt - Probably give him another year
Wheatley - Send back

Matt needs putting out to pasture.

I can’t cope with watching another season of us lamping balls up to him, that he never wins. The fact we keep doing it and keep not winning should tell you something.

Matt has deteriorated during the season, as his years have caught up on him. Ageing is a slow, gradual deterioration punctuated with some rapid declines. He is not the player he was six months ago. There is a reason why there are very few 35-year-old strikers in league football.

Sadler has not noticed this, and still thinks Matt can dominate defenders and influence a game by taking the lion’s share of the burden of our front line.

I’m not knocking Matt at all. He has been a big contributor this season. We may have got a full season out of him if he had been used wisely. How many times has he completed 80 minutes, looking like he can barely walk.

More annoying is our whole strategy is based around him now, I’m sure it wasn’t earlier in the season.

Matt was good until about a month/6 weeks ago the blokes knackered he’s 35 trying to do it all on his own up there most of the time Sadler can’t see it though.

So basically you’d keep the team that hasn’t won for 3 months.

I’ve put ten players that i don’t think will be here next season.

Which others wouldn’t you want to keep?

Its very difficult sitting here thinking who i eould get rid off after this footballing nightmare, saddler first on my list what a failure. Hornby is non league so is daniels farquason continually injured, liam gordan cannot cross or defend that well. William been pusted out of door by saddler. Stirk non league with comley who is a lower non league player, love earring but to injury pron, jamma to old and cannot hold the ball up. Josh gordan worse signing ever as well as lad from bromley dj got no chance with saddler. Byfield crap attacking coach and hasnt a clue. But i feel so depressed woth walsall dont think i will be botherered if we fail to go up after 40 years of supporting the club it make me feel so down going now adays. No fun no drive

Great: so why aren’t they playing? Are they doing enough in training to get a place in the matchday squad? Personally, I would pick Chang, certainly over Comley. Perhaps there’s still time!

Sadler named Chang as a substitute twice during his three months here, and brought him on in the 90th minute at Gillingham, so you can’t say he hasn’t given him a chance. Especially when you consider how well the team has been playing since Lipsiuc and Chang have been here. (Sarcasm)

It’s one of the biggest concerns to me, why sign players you have no plan on ever using. He was forced to bring Asiimwe in and he actually performed well. He would literally only pick Chang n Luipsic if every other midfielder, plus McEntee and Allen were injured

I believe Hall is out of contract at Blues.

Why would we even bother to enter a bidding war for a left-wing back who can’t defend and can’t cross a ball accurately? I’d get rid and look for better.

Can’t defend :joy:

I think Liam Gordon is quality at this level when he’s fit, the problem is that like a lot of the regulars he’s absolutely shot. Hopefully we’re sensible with rotation over Easter as there’s actually plenty of options for LWB and the other key roles!

I think Matt player coach would be good but Sadler will still play him 40 games

Did he do enough to stop the cross on Saturday? Probably not but you fo him a major disservice. He is superb at this level 1 v 1. Rarely gets beaten on the outside.
Yes he is frustrating with his final ball but has recently put in excellent crosses for the second goal at Doncaster, the disallowed Matt goal v Vale and for Harrisons chance on Saturday.
