AFC Wimbledon (N) - League 2 Play-Off Final, Mon 26th May, 3:01 pm

Controversial opinion but even josh Gordon would fare better on Wembley pitch than jamma
Jamma will let the team down , not by choice but he will be so out of place it will be embarrassing for him

I think Jamma early doors to ruffle them up a bit and for his aerial strengths defending is fine but not beyond 45 mins.

Not that controversial really, although I suppose a lot would disagree.

There is no way he isn’t starting Jamma, so hopefully he can contribute something good. Must be due a goal now surely. I would imagine 60 mins is the absolute max he will manage. If we can keep it tight and get Adomah and Amantchi on like the Chesterfield game, we could win it in normal time, hopefully.

Maybe we should change our name to Aardvark Walsall and we would be top of the table before a game is even played rather than invariably the bottom club

Can we start with Leitao & Goodman in a 4-4-2 please

If only…

Not that controversial I don’t think. I wouldn’t have minded him coming on instead of Levi on Friday. Let’s not forget how good Gordon was at the start of the season before his injury. He’s not a finisher by any stretch, but certainly can still contribute to this team.

I thought Jorge struggled in that final, Goodman stole the show. I think the occasion got to him, great player for us though obviously.

That team had some character though, never knew when they were beaten. I think this team has it in them also, let’s hope they can show it on the day.

Matt will start and then be subbed for Amantchi on the hour as per how the last few weeks have gone.

I think he’s important just to bring back for Wimbledon’s corners and long throws just to defend them. Can’t be losing a cheap early goal to them although VAR in play here is a worry with all the shirt tugging and wrestling he loves.

League two play off final referees have been confirmed for AFC Wimbledon v Walsall on 26th May 2025
Referee: Will Finnie
Assistant: Alistair Nelson and Conor Brown
Fourth official: Thomas Kirk
Reserve assistant: Matthew Sowerby
VAR: James Bell
AVAR: Marc Perry

He’s issued 27 yellow and 4 red cards in his last 5 matches!

I am wondering if VAR will make a difference to League 2 players unfamiliar with it. Most refs we get in L2 are prepared to let a lot go in the interests of letting the game flow. The players know they can get away with a lot. Will it be any different in this game?

In fact, is this the first Saddlers VAR match?

No, Newport away was.

Quite!

Wasn’t it against Newport the year before when the linesman the goal from 60 yards away and the ball never got near the line? Could have done with VAR then.

The fourth official Thomas Kirk was the referee for the Notts County V Wimbledon first leg play off game who sent Jatta off.
The VAR referee James Bell was the referee against Salford at home in the 2-2 draw back in February.

With Connor Barrett back from suspension, i wonder whether he’ll replace any of the players that were on the bench against Chesterfield.

Nothing against Connor, but I hope not.

Adomah is the man to come on down the right, not as a striker.

Adomah has come on as a wide attacker since we’ve changed formation to 343

Barrett would be a substitute for Asiimwe/Gordon as a wing back

Reffed mainly Championship and L1. My God, he likes his yellows.

Yep
