I think Barrett returns for the bench as fresh legs and potentially also a penalty taker perhaps if we go that far?
Thought it would be a straight swop for Comley but he’s just played in both Chesterfield games, indeed half hour cameo in the second leg so clearly Sadler rates his experience at business end of a season.
Can only be for Daniels you’d think but then McEntee would need to be on the bench to cover for any of the CBs if they pick up an injury.
I was just thinking about the damage Adomah did v Chesterfield down the right, not the first time this season. You would think him in the last 20 mins on the Wembley pitch could be a match winner.
Adomah will be on the bench whatever happens I would imagine though.
I don’t think that will happen, I can’t see him changing the system that has won 3 in a row. It would not surprise me at all to see him come on as a striker at some point though.
Albert is a cert for the bench, and I only hope when he does come on he’s given enough time and is played out wide. He ran rings round the tiring Chesterfield defenders. DD will be there in case of injury to a CB, but I’m guessing that MS will pick his subs with the intention of replacing most of the “front 5” at some stage.I think he’ll go Levi (Jamma), Flash (Hall), Comley (Stirk), Albert (Jellis) and Lakin (Chang).
Well, let’s hope he spots the undoubted shithousery that the Wombles have deployed all season - arms and hands as much as legs and feet in most games I’ve seen them…
Assuming Sadler picks the same starting 11, the subs are more or less defined. Hornby obviously, then cover for Hall and Chang. I think both are fit enough but Blues will not want to risk them over-extending themselves. Levi must be there, as must Albert. at the back, we probably need McEntee or DD for CB cover.
It would be a good idea in the Final to have the entire squad available to be subs. It wouldn’t change the number used but would make everyone feel part of the game.
Incidentally, does anyone know what has happened to Earing?
Earing has been injured since Nov? Priestley since Swindon? Both great players when fit but miss far far too many games. Would be a shame if they dropped into non league, depends if a league club takes a risk on them.
It’s a shame because when fit he’s an absolute colossus, a man mountain. When he and Captain Fantastic DD were both fully fit I don’t think there was a better centre half pairing in L2. A massive loss to us and indeed the L2 football family.
It must be awful for a player who has just scored what seems like a perfect goal and pumped up full of adreneline wanting to celebrate with the fans and then having to wait 10 minutes for someone to say his knob was in an offside position when the ball was played. Think Chaz Lakin would have throttled the VAR team if they had struck his goal off in the home leg v Chesterfield
I’ve seen Earing warming up on the pitch pre match at the Bescot for the Harrogate game. Was able to get to Chesterfield though. Hope he hasn’t had another set back.
I think Sadler has difficult decisions to make on the bench.
Pick 7 from:
Hornby, Daniels, McEntee, Barrett, Lakin, Comley, Adomah, Levi, Gordon, DJ
Assume Hornby, Lakin and Adomah and excluding DJ leaves 4 from 6.
He’ll want cover at centre back, and then subs for Chang and Matt.
Centre Back = Daniels or McEntee
Sub for Chang = McEntee or Comley
Sub for Matt = Levi or Gordon
As Albert can cover Asiimwe, I’m not sure Barret gets a look in.
Tough call for Sadler, but I think he might go for McEntee, Comley, Levi which leaves him to choose between Josh Gordon and Barrett.
A bit harsh on Daniels unless McEntee is still injured.
Not sure why but I thought more than 7 subs could be named in the final. DJ has to be on the bench for me but I think we all know that’s not going to happen
