Such negative signing, already thinking how boring we will be. 2 terrible signing which ever way you look at it, already feel the amercan dream is over. Cannot see many wanting to get season tickets if it means you need to take a pillow and a good book to a walsall game. So negative no goals in midfield last year and this is worse.
If people are comparing our line up next to england, seriously who watches england games to get excitedā¦
Welcome to Walsall, Brandon.
I donāt think American dream is over. It depends on whatās to come. But I cannot see these players being an improvement on previous seasons
We canāt expect to be at the dream stage yet. Trivela have only just made the bed - after an unforseen change in sheet design - tucked us in (Bennett) and read us a story (Williams). Today weāve turned over our pillow (Comley) and stuck one leg out of the bed (Allen).
Still no goal keepers or strikers.
Thatās a bit of a concern
Why?
No strikers or Keepers ? Thatās my concern.
Waiting until last to sign them ?
And history tells me we arenāt very good at signing strikers late on
Do you think we will start the season without any goalkeepers ?
Iāll reserve judgement till I see the new signings and the system Flynn plays them in but I donāt think heās the type of manager who will sign players for sake of signing them, heād walk and get a job in lower leagues easily if he feels heās aināt being backed.
Comley looks to be a replacement for Labadie to me. A sensible signing with the latterā s future unknown. The young lad from FGR is clearly someone who Flynn hopes will challenge for the LWB position. All part of his plan for 2 players in every position.
I donā t have a problem with either signing. I do however want to see at least 2 forwards being brought in as well as someone who can score goals from midfield. These players will be the key signings in my opinion and I hope we are in a position to bring in some real quality .
Welcome Brandon.
I think he was on the bench for 45 games that season, and started only one.
Youāre right though, that team was functional and pragmatic, certainly not as entertaining as the 94-95 team, or the 79-80 team, and without the prolific scorers up front. But that was what Dosh wanted, and he made it work. The defence was excellent, of course, Dann, Gerrard, Roper, Westwood, Pead, Taylor, Fox was quality beyond what weāve had in recent seasons, not to mention Clayton Ince.
Butler and Sam worked there 'nads off to make it hard for opposition defenders when we didnāt have possession, Iām assuming Flynn will want players to do the same.
Agreed, who knows what the prognosis us for Labadie, even if he is back by Jan, itāll take him 6 weeks to get match fit and sharp.
Was he? Maybe Iām overstating his contribution because one of my fondest memories of that season was Accrington Stanley away, in a packed uncovered stand, perfect conditions, where I remember him tearing their defense several new arseholes. Funny what happy memories can do to you. More of those would be a bloody tonic.
Was that the one game he started? Dosh brought him on in quite a few games, and he had the pace and skill to make defenders look daft. Useful bloke to bring on when you are defending a lead, forces the other team to sit back a bit.
He had so much ability and potential but threw it away.
I think he was a substitute there. A statto is bound to be able to confirm one way or the other. But yes, he could have gone on to do so much more. I think Ian Holloway gave him a final chance at Blackpool but nothing came of it.
Iād hazard a guess the best chance we have of a good keeper is a Prem Loan. Given weāve signed an experienced Striker I wouldnāt be shocked if we brought in a good young Premier League forward.
Imagine itās a bit early for these deals yet. But I think 3 good loanees, gk, striker and another offensive type player will be it
