That’s alright then if we are he 3rd worst team in the league. Woopy doo!!! That would be a great campaign for next year’s season tickets sales when it starts. I can see the graphics now , “Don’t worry, because no matter how bad we are we won’t finish lower than 22nd in League 2. ■■■■■■■, Together.”
I feel like I’ve been hearing “yeah, but at least we won’t be x y or z” for about 5 years now.
“Yeah but at least we won’t be in a league one relegation scrap”
“Yeah but at least we will stay up”
“Yeah but even if we do go down we can rebuild”
“Yeah but if we finish mid table league two it gives us a foundation”
“Yeah but at least we won’t get relegated from League Two”
I like the idea but I sense the fact he’s failed since and not really managed that much that maybe he’s one of those that football has moved on from.
Feel for Dutton, seems a nice bloke and I respect him for giving it a shot. I want to give him 10 games to prove he can sort this lot out but I do wonder how many games we can really afford to give him before we are in real serious trouble and need to look elsewhere? LP has some seriously tough decisions to make soon, even tougher knowing that if the next decision is wrong then we could seriously end up a non league club.
It’s going to be the worst league finish since early 90s. Nothing against the bloke personally as he’s trying his best but would be completely the wrong decision to give Dutton the full time gig anytime soon so would be o.k with whatever low finishing position that isn’t bottom 2 rules him out in LP’s mind in getting the job.
With season tickets I think more needs to be clear about what the matchday experience will be like in August before decent numbers are sold. If it’s largely the same as before then I think the sheer length without being at a match will get in decent numbers back in itself regardless of what the quality is like on the pitch.
If it’s constant mask use, segregated areas (o.k that’s probably the norm on a matchday!) and taking about 10 minutes to leave after final whistle that will put plenty of people off. The traditional matchday walk up queue will probably survive covid though!
It is being portrayed as the only option by the Chairman and as such we might even have been touting him around, such is our apparent perilous state.
As a mere fan who seemingly has no right to know much detail, I still have no idea how accurate that fee is.
Irrespective of whether they are any good or not, the Chairman stated that Melbourne and Yaw were taken on with a view to making their transfers permanent. I took that to mean details had been agreed. That was somewhat contradicted in the minutes of the last Working Party Meeting minutes with a comment attributed to the Chief Executive saying that it’s “a conversation that can be had in the future”. If the Chairman is going to go public on things then I think he needs to choose his words more carefully, especially as this issue was put over in such a way as to offer some mitigation for the Adebayo and Jules sales.
The club has got to become more open, honest and consistent with its fan base, because if more and more people feel as alienated as I do then they are in trouble.
I agree. Especially the final part.
For me, the three amigos need to show they’re different to the regime before. This is difficult because they were the previous regime.
Time for them to stand up and be counted.
Why has a incredibly rookie manager been appointed with 20 games of the season left with still a chance of the play offs?
What is the target for next season?
As if there’s a target other than paying the rent
Problem we have is a vast majority lap up everything they say, it’s been the walsall way for years now.
Sadly anyone who objects or challenges the running of the club have been shouted down, it’s really bizarre.
Looking at that lot there is a few must win games ie Barrow Southend Grimsby
Mr Pomlett needs to call his American investors and see if they will invest in us now rather than wait until we get to league 1. If they are serious about investing then is the best time to do it and hopefully we can get back to league 1. Investment from outside sources is the only way out of this mess.
It may not be Woopy doo, but I expect us to play in Div 4 next season rather than The National League, which is the better of the two current options.
Give the bloke a chance,he’s hardly been given a fair crack of the whip has he? Since he took over circumstances way beyond his control have worked against him,and every other football club in the world.
I say wait until this is all over, when we can say he’s had 2yrs of normality,2yrs of gate money,2yrs of hospitality income and maybe a bit of luck like an add-on clause coming good, then we can all judge him fairly.
Another thing to take into consideration,is the fact that nobody would touch Walsall as a football club with a bargepole (not even Walsall Council) even before all our financial lifelines were cut,so who would take a gamble on putting money into the club now?
Barrow Southend Grimsby then struggling after that mate maybe Harrogate at home?
In all fairness he took over without any money to invest, It’s hard to envisage us being in this position Covid or not.
Good post SID . Some people on here are completely out of touch with reality.
I agree that Pomlett should be given a chance to deliver on his promises before being criticised, but your last point is factually incorrect. Geoff Dance wanted to buy the club but Bonser wouldn’t sell to him, maybe because he would have found the buried bodies?
Explain that comment please? Also explain why everyone else is managing and we aren’t…
Well said
Was Geoff Dance looking to purchase the freehold and the club?
Erm, don’t you believe in God?
Bit rich ain’t it that comment?
