Decent performance that we were in control of in the main, especially given the changes we had to make due to injuries.
Fair play to Lakin for filling at LWB and sticking at it. Still don’t think it takes away from the fact Earing should be in the team ahead of him at the moment.
Good to see two strikers on the scoresheet, the subs rules impacted the last 15 as Jamma was dead on his feet and it meant the front press stopped.
Thought Williams had a good game after a couple of shaky moments. MoM for me was Stirk who I thought was everywhere and controlled large portion of our play.
Concerns still around our “injury prone” players and how this will impact us through the season but at the moment we are coping with it well and you can’t say there isn’t a togetherness and cohesion in this team. Well done so far to Sadler and Trivela
That was a proper gutsy win when things seemed to be conspiring against us! Those three injuries really did tie our hands behind our back in adjusting things. Really shouldn’t have risked Gordon for the second half, as that ruled out any further substitutions for the last 40 odd mins.
Fair play though, the players left out there really dug in and ground that out. It’s that kind of spirited win which will count in our favour at the end of the season.
Disappointed we didn’t get to see Hall or Cleary, but their days will come. The 3pts is the main thing today so I’m delighted we saw that tricky game out with a win. UTS!
I’m not saying he is a bad player and I don’t think P.T was either but he was very poor in the first half.
Not an obsession, just an observation I’d say, unlike some of your posts. A rare one of yours that doesn’t include Stirk, who did a good job again today.
I thought the team selection was a bit off. Earing should be starting, we look a better team when he plays. Lowe not starting was also a bit of a strange one.
Still, a good win. Comfortably the better side but made hard work of it in the end. Matters not the 3 points are ours. Another 24 wins and a few draws should see us up.
Injuries are concerning but at least we have a squad now.
I was thinking the same thing. I don’t think any of the previous squads of the past five years would have won that- even allowing for the opposition not being too good. They’d have conceded late to draw or lose- probably wouldn’t have got the second-and talked about a fighting performance under tough conditions.
Felt like today was must win to keep up the good start in the league after last weeks loss and a couple of tricky games coming up and it was fully deserved.
Great win. Fully deserved IMO, they didn’t have a sniff until we had 3 injuries and started to target Lakin as our makeshift wingback.
Bit wasteful in promising positions, especially in shots outside the box. Showed Okagbue’s strength as being in the centre where he can just focus the physical side on the game. Thought Lakin did alright tbh.
A big worry is our injury situation now. Already down to only three CBs just four league games in.
Also met the main man Mat Sadler in IKEA after. Nice bloke.
