Stirk was weak for their goal.
One thing that seems different this season, at least from what I’ve seen, is that we are continually looking to attack. In recent sessons at 1-0 up and certainly at 2-0 up we’d have quickly gone into a defensive mode but today and when leading in other games we look hungry for more. Which is a real positive

Stirk has played well this season and I don’t think Lakin has been as bad as some would have us think, pk his shooting was marginally off but if he had found the corner of the net some would view the performance different.
Nobody ever praises a player for consistently getting in positions to take a shot ?

This is the matchday thread right? Where we talk about a specific match. In today’s specific match Lakin was dreadful in the first half.
That’s not saying he’s a bad player or a bad person - he’s just a footballer for whom nothing went right for 45 minutes.
Didn’t mention him second half because I thought he did OK filling in at LWB and to judge him on that position would have been overly harsh.
No obsession here. Just saying what I thought.
My overall obsession is Walsall FC and we got the job done today. As other have said, Earing coming on and effectively taking the place in midfield of Lakin (damn that obsession!) won us the game.
It’s brilliant having these kind of options in the squad.

This you can only make x 3 subs rule is daft, especially when players go off for injuries. Is it because they want to try and stop time wasting?
Not sure how Jamma managed the whole 90 mins as he was crocked. It didn’t help that he was being fouled nearly every time the ball came near him (and when it didnt).
Thought Stirky was good as was Barrett and Dave. I really like Earing though, we seem more in control when he is on.
Oisin was icing his hamstring at half time and limping around so does not look good.
All in all a good battling performance and we deserved the 3 points.

Was cheered off by their fans when Bowman went off, and not in a positive way 
They want him to be perfick.

Enjoyable stopover in Walsall!
Deserved it on our 2nd half performance. Starting to feel more optimistic as I think we have a very strong bench so did not look weaker by any of the subs. Really liked the look of Jellis & Barrett.

I think Barrett will become an outstanding player, hes a bit raw at times, but hes quick he can beat a man and can head the ball. A touch of the marauders about him too.

So much to be pleased with today. At 2-0 you could see we smelt blood and could have been 4 before their somewhat scrappy goal which was a poor one to concede.
Many of the issues we saw last season seem to have been addressed. So much more movement, we look better drilled and they seem to know where each other are meaning our passing game is much better.
Players helping each other out all over the pitch, we are playing the press better and we look much sharper and switched on.
Really good when it went 2-1 to see us not sink deeper and deeper trying to protect the win until we concede an enevitable equaliser but instead seek to dash their hopes of a comeback by scoring a 3rd without being cavalier about it and risking throwing it away that way.
Tackling is better with players more willing to put in a challenge instead of constantly backing off.
Picking a motm match is no longer easy with just one standout player, there are several worthy candidates every match.
We look a proper team not just a collection of players and look the real deal.
Long may it last.

I really hope that Flynn gets sacked and I never have to watch one of his cheating fouling diving teams play(?) against us again. They just set out to stop us at every oportunity by whatever means they wished. The ref was absolutely useless.
Glad that our win may well hasten his departure from the football league.

A few of us have said he hasn’t impressed so far he hasn’t nothing wrong with saying it it’s true in my opinion.
Get used to it, we are a very good side now and many teams will try and do the same as they know it gives them a better chance of turning us over than trying to go toe to toe with us.
