Chris Hussey signs

Luke warm on this one. We only had the one player over 30 though, so I guess a bit of experience won’t hurt. Just got to make sure we don’t fill the squad with has-beens. Really positive to see the twitter quote from tomhwilliams above, so maybe he’ll turn out to be a golden oldie?

Feels like another Peter Clarke signing to me.

Very underwhelmed so far.

The pride that most footballers take in their health and fitness levels with some of them doing even more to keep going towards the end of their careers gives me a bit of hope, and let’s be honest he’s about 7 years younger than Peter Clarke was.

Welcome to Walsall, Chris.
Hope you have a successful spell with us!

He is younger by 6 years and 364 days if you wish to be exact, but I’ll let you off with “about 7 years”, just this once. :slightly_smiling_face:

Cracking but of business this. Had a very good season at Stockport by all accounts.

Its bang average 4th division mid to lower table business.

It’s where we are at. No point getting upset or excited lol.

Pls - no stats they aren’t allowed on this site

Darren Pratley bossed the midfield at 37 for Orient last year. Not all older players are poor. Every successful team at this level has them. Let’s hope we have one of the good ones. Apart from Clarke most of our older failures have had poor declining records before coming to us. Hussey played a significant role for a team that played with power and agression ladt season so would hope he has something left for us.

Perhaps thats a qualifing criterion of his character

Haven’t even looked at his backside tbh.

Darren Pratley also has a season in the premier league and almost 300 championship games. Bit more pedigree there I’d say.

Mate! Only a matter of time…

Got to give him a chance but im in the minority, as i thought Gordan was poor last year as most games past him by. My other concern has he got the drive to win i hope so,

I agree.

Given all of his promotions I would say so.

Decent player at this level, very good left foot which should prove useful in set-piece situations.

I bet @Gensanx123 is going to be apoplectic reading this, when will he concentrate on his football

It was always said that central defenders improved with age.

He was really poor during certain spells then would come into some form again and look decent. We’ve got to remember he had a bad injury and was always playing catch up. For me, he’s a left wing back only and I wouldn’t play him in a back 4 so depending what formation Sadler wants to play we could need 2 left backs to cover.
