Chris Hussey signs

I thought he looked more assured at left-back.

I thought his defending and positional play at lb left us exposed and manny done well to cover and bail him out time and time again. Luke Bolton and many others had him all never the place

Yep Don’t get this criticism at all. I thought he was very solid at left back on the rare occasion he had to play there and terrific at times going forward

So did I really hope we aren’t playing with wing backs this season if we are we need good ones better than last seasons

Fair criticism tho. He looked more comfortable at wing back and I’ve said let’s give him a good pre season and see what he delivers ( hopefully without anymore injuries). Just my thoughts, I would get a left back in for when we do play a back 4 and have Gordon when we play wing backs. Wtf do I know tho. I’m sure our defensive coaches know better.

Can see him playing CB rather than LB or LWB due to his pace/age

Alexa…give me a list of cheap footballers.

I liked Gordon last season, I thought he had some good games, as well as some poor ones. He had a difficult start to the season which might explain some of his inconsistency as he tried to get sharp and match fit. I think he will be decent next season and I don’t think his will be one of our problem areas.

Hussey seems a good signing. He’s no spring chicken but we rarely sign good players at the peak of their careers, this is when we get them, unless we have them as new starters. Hopefully he will stay fit. He’s been a good solid pro with some promotions under his belt and nearly 50 games in the Championship.

I wonder if he’s been signed with the intention of pushing Gordon forward into a left midfield/wing position? Most on here would agree that Gordon’s attacking is better than his defending but we would have a really solid left side with Hussey at left back and Gordon ahead of him.

The last manager to try something similar was Money when he played Fox in that position. I think that worked out ok.

Not for me, as I said I don’t really get it. Of course he had games where he struggled, the whole team did, but on the whole I thought he was pretty good. Wing backs, which was the role he played, will need covering a lot that is the point of three centre halves. Especially when you don’t play wingers and they have to bomb forward. But his disciplinary record for a full back/wing back is ridiculously good, he contributed a goal of the season contender going forward and looked like he had the ability to take his man on over and over again.

Imo gordon was ok nothing more
Got beat a lot and had some absolute shockers eg Stockport twice . Was subbed early in a few games
If he weren’t so likeable he would have got pelters by some on here. Leahy defended just as well as Gordon but alot better going forward and many hate the bloke
Hopefully a fully fit Gordon is a different beast

I have no problem with him at wing back when we’ve got 3 centre backs to cover. My point was in a back 4 when manny kept being dragged out of positron to cover. Hopefully a good pre season and he proves me wrong in a back 4 because I never wanna see us play wing backs again.

Stinks of a Flynn type Journey man signing.

But will judge him on performances and how he does here.

If he goes through the motions like the other Trivella journeymen Trivella sanctioned I won’t be slow in calling it out. Seen enough !

Devil’s advocate, but this is what they said about Peter Clarke last season, most minutes played in EFL, L2 TOTY etc.

A replacement for Daniels maybe?

Good experienced head hopefully Foulkes and Gordon will benefit from it.

Peter Clarke was knocking on 50 :upside_down_face:

We finally have a player with letters after his name that aren’t DNR.

He achieved those aged 37-39. Was worth a risk based on that but it turned out 39-40 was a season too far for him. Hopefully Hussey does have at least 1 decent season left in him.
