Colchester (H) - League Two - Sat 28 September, 12.30pm

Don’t know how many others have noticed, but is it me or does Jamma rarely get any free kicks awarded to him.

He’s pulled and pushed all over the place every game and doesn’t seem to get anything.

He had to change his shirt at half time yesterday as it was half ripped off him.

I know he has a touch of the dark arts himself and does his fair share, but he always seems to come off worst with refs decisions.

Honestly that’s up to Mat to sort in the pre-match briefing. I guess he can ask the ref to protect him, but I don’t know what his strategy is. Maybe he wants Jamma to take it on the chin to deflect from whatever else we are doing. Seems to be working given our card count is where it is!

Not the first time either his shirt has been literally ripped off him in a few matches leading to him changing it.

I assume we are now printing extra with his name on for the season.

Hopefully we’ll have enough stock …

I enjoy hearing how other managers see the game.

I’ve got to say I am even beginning to enjoy Sadler interviews because he is always reinforcing the same things, doesn’t throw players under the bus and has created an altogether culture.

I’d to echo all of the positive comments on here about the game and the progress we’re making.
Like many others I thought Barrett and Stirk were outstanding but they all played well.
I’ve been a fan since 1969, (and particularly since the Bescot days), whenever the team/squad was read out there’d usually be at least a couple of names where I’d think something along the lines of “Oh, not him” or “Hope he doesn’t get on the pitch”. This season, thanks to astute recruitment, there’s not one single player at the club who makes me think that.
Ps I thought the Bhangra music at half time was fantastic- much better than those embarrassing fan challenges.

I thought Hutchinson going may have been that very thing.
What do I know?

What an honest and professional assessment of the game from Cowley, so refreshing to hear an opposing manager give a very astute verdict, fair play to him

It’s true he does get pulled around a lot.

I do feel he would fare better though if he actually challenged for the ball sometimes rather than backing in and holding other players himself by default. He gets away with a fair bit himself.

Given the unrest at Stoke in the last week or so we need to keep our fingers crossed that the deals with them for Simkin and Lowe are extremely watertight in our favour given our previous recall disappointments on loan players.
Their upteenth new Coach may have his eyes on us at the top end of the table.
Nathan is an incredible talent and works so hard all over the pitch. When he is not on the pitch it really shows and his eye for goal has a touch of Allan Clarke about him imo.
Tommy has been very well shielded up to now by our excellent back 3/5 but the difference and confidence he provides has contributed to our goals against tally.
So glad the Evans factor has been removed at last.

Anyone know the logic of putting the away fans in the family stand? Not the rowdiest bunch but putting drunk, sweary men as close to families as possible seems an odd decision.

We also had what appeared to be a Colchester analyst standing up in the family stand filming the game and obscuring the view of anyone behind. We had to move because of it.

Anyway I’ll stop moaning now. My first game of the season and was great :grinning:

On Saturday the subject came up in conversation and one thing brought up was the away section needs to have disabled spaces hence the option for the away fans been in the corner. Not sure if this is true or not tbf

Good footage but the camera needs to be capturing the whole home end. On the right lines though.

Seems to be coming more of a trend across the country moving away fans from behind the goal where possible. It must be a psychological thing of not having their support behind a goal and I’d assume there’s some data to support its effectiveness. Might be something Ben Sadler’s came in and influenced.

I’m not saying there is nothing in that, but I think it is more to do with keeping the big stand closed if possible to reduce costs.

Wonder if that has got anything to do with the fact that prices in side stands are generally higher than behind the goal at most grounds.

Big difference is team temperament. During that start ,we were praising the bastardry of that team, which worked great until they turned bastard on each other. No chance of that happening with this regime and this squad.

I’d just like like to say, here and now, our PE teacher is better than Colchester’s :facepunch:

Yeah but they are now having access to the disabled spaces when they are using the full away end and as the conversation went it is now designated part of the away end.
Your point about not us g the larger section as a cost cutting exercise is valid but maybe only part of the reasoning
Sorry in response to Blazing not yourself fat fingers syndrome lol

Ive heard its something about a new policy, where by disabled supporters of away fans have to be located in the same area as the away fans.
