Coventry City (A) EFL Trophy, Tue 3rd Sept, 7.45pm

I was done with Gordon after forest green, and wasn’t impressed with adebayo’s finishing instincts after Grimsby. Not sure what Gaffney is going to bring tbh. In theory Adebayo and Lavery should be the thunder n’ lightning attack and i still hold out hope that will develop into a nice partnership.

Our stats and what I see make me think the team is functioning pretty well, just need the guys up top to perform to take the pressure off the rest.

Heard on commentary there was a big hole in the middle of the park again tonight. Was it 4-1-2-1-2?

Could try him as a centre half can’t be any worse can he :joy:

we have just heard a big thwack on our concervatory roof in brownhills, so yes, the good news is my nephews lad has got a quality football now :+1:

Keep your eyes peeled, Gaffney’s should be along any moment. One for eBay

Performance was pretty good, especially in the second half where we dominated, but once again couldn’t find the finishing touch.

Adebayo’s work outside the box was again very good, but just simply doesn’t have that instinct for goals.

So the lad is a good player?, but not a striker  then if YOU were a manager where would you play him? send your answers to co DC walsall fc

He’s decent with the ball at his feet and is a presence that defenders are wary of. I reckon wide on the left of a 4-3-3 would be a good position for him.

Good outlet for goal kicks and still provides his link up play.

Also agree on Gordon what the hell anyone saw in him to say he could get anywhere near 20 goals this season is beyond me will add i was told by someone who is usually reliable that if anyone wanted him Clarke was happy to let him go.

Wonder if he will give it the biggun in front of the fans if/when he scores again ???

Just heard a car alarm go off up the road from me. Possibility it could be that.

0:59 on the highlight reel sums up Gordon’s killer instincts :confounded:

Give Candlin a go, nothing to lose. Makes me wonder what exactly did Whitney do to Mitch, snubbing him the way he did after a great pre-season?

To be fair I hope Adebayo’s penalty “slip” doesn’t knock his confidence, its probably the last thing he needed. I think he’s decent. Nowhere near the finished article, but who expected that when we signed him? Watching those highlights he’s had 3 attempts on goal, two on target that produced good saves (that’s both of the team’s on target efforts of the night by the way), and he’s won a header from a corner that put a chance on a plate for Gordon. Again its all ifs buts and maybes, BUT he could have had a goal and should have had an assist tonight in a game with few chances, that’s fine margins from someone that’s in the game and having a go, not abject failure.

Surprised Candlin is still here, surely he should go on loan to decent non league team.

Nothing about his career really adds up in last 2 years.

Was progressing o.k and then Keates aswell dosen’t use him much. Blackburn see enough but not to actually sign him, just to take him on six month loan for development team and then he returns last xmas. Dosen’t play and not even made the bench so far this season.

Bizarre. Still only 20. Guess he’ll be one of those who goes scores 100 goals for Leamington or Stourbridge and then Peterborough will sign him.

Looked that was to me. Forwards were isolated once again: either Hardy needs to play more games or we still need to get a free transfer in for somebody to link the play.

Hes clearly not good enough I think that’s more the fact of the matter.

Agree. Fans must be patient, don’t get on his back. Definitely a footballer in there. May be central striker will not be his best position

I know a lad who grew up playing non league with him, he can’t believe he ever made it pro.

I wouldn’t normally take much notice of something like that, but he clearly got a very lucky break somewhere.

I spoke to someone in non-league who said pretty much the same the other week.
He’s never really scored goals other than that little spell at Stafford which attracted Leicester City’s attraction. May just be on his way back down now.
