D 0-0 vs MK Dons (H) - League Two - Tue 3rd Oct, 7:45pm

My point is this ‘football’ isn’t really any different.

Only just got back after a disappointing night.

Just a few interesting bits. RoK was there tonight, making a lot of notes throughout the game about things that we were doing when we had and lost the ball. I assume that Sadler has called him in to give him a bit of help and ask for his opinion.

It’s was also interesting to see the Cowley Bros were there tonight as well. Make of that what you will.

Also can confirm that Dan The Man Mole is off the Villa to work alongside Sharon Barnhurst the Club Secretary. Should suit him as Mole and all his family are Villa fans anyway. Hope they will give him a table in the window for his entourage!!!

I don’t think that’s true. I’ll have to rewatch the game to get a better understanding but from memory of tonight there were things like a Daniels direct ball to Draper? For a 1on 1 That he probably should have done better with. I don’t recall us creating that sort of chance last year. Some quick throw ins to keep the pressure on at times (last season we had to wait 5 minutes for Knowles to wander over irrespective of where the throw was)

It’s not perfect. But don’t understand how people can’t see a more up tempo approach.

Bully :frowning:

Just complete bollocks. I know you’re a troll but pretending we didn’t create any chances by being direct last year is beyond a weak attempt at it. Literally the way we played (and you whinged incessantly about) all last season.

I’ll see if I can come up with some more examples after I’ve rewatched the game. The replay isn’t immediately available. I genuinely can’t recall a chance like the donavon pass to Draper I want to see that again.

Owen Evans man of the match for me. I’ll take a point against MK Dons as I thought they were a good side. They pressed and retained possession really well in the first half I thought, and should have been a goal up. Second half was more even. I’m thinking it’s a point gained rather then two dropped.

Overall I think Walsall looked poor - but just in the same way we were made to look good against Bradford - it’s got a lot to do with the opposition!

Not turning over the good sides at home is one of the reasons why we’re going to be mid-table. So no surprises there for me. Sadler should have given DJ 20 mins at the end though.

It’s been the same for years. No matter who is manager, our possession is shocking home and away. I’d love to find out the year when we actually had more possession than the opposition

That wasn’t one :joy::joy::joy: I’m not doubting it happened, I’m pointing out your hypocrisy claiming that it never happened last year. If you want to dispute it don’t rewatch that nightmare of a game, watch every single one from last season then get back to me.

If you can show me the examples from last season, I’m all ears.

I’m not the one trolling making a ridiculous point. In fact don’t even do that, go to a match thread of you whinging about being direct.

I’d imagine 2015/16.

We haven’t got any midfielders who can really dominate the game. McEntee isn’t a midfielder, Stirk doesn’t have a partner…

To be honest, I don’t think we are instructed to play any sort of possession game. I think Sadler wants us to play the channel ball, direct game.

I just really dislike it. It’s boring and negative.

Little stat for you 7 teams in league 2 lost tonight despite have more possession. Bradford and Salford are in the top 6 for possession despite being below us in the league.

Surprised how bad Sutton have been so far. They signed some decent players in the summer, have comfortably adapted to league football and have been higher than this club in league two in last couple of seasons and put 5 past Notts County on opening day.

Since then it’s been a mass losing streak but it is the sort of banana skin game the club frequently trip over so wouldn’t shock me if that’s a loss.

Possession isn’t correlated with winning football matches as I understand it. Although I prefer a possession base approach aesthetically. I think it’s the type of possession that counts rather than just say passing the ball around the back.

It was to Tierney and he made a real mess of it.

EN is being selective….again…

Pointless stat.

As I’ve mentioned, there’s a clear correlation between possession and league position. It’s undeniable, especially in the last 15 years.

There’s good effective possession of the ball, and passive possession too.

I only bring it up, as we were told that there was a sea change in the summer, and we would see better, more attractive football.

We haven’t. Period.

So it’s about results now not style of play? It’s just people (you) have been banging on all summer and all season that as long as there’s a marked improvement in the football, then Sadler is a good appointment, regardless of results, which at the moment are the definition of average?
