D 1-1 vs Colchester United (A) - League Two - Sat 16th March, 3pm

Actually, I though Tierney created chances on both occasions he came on this week.

Frustrating I know given other results means you could see this as a missed opportunity, but we are closer now than we were before kick off so overall a good day with a step forward.

Keep your heads everyone and keep on supporting the lads, it will carry us over the line if we do. We’ve stayed in touch having LDD, so are well place as the wins return to force our way in just at the right time.

If we all stick together we will make it.

Just woke up.
Did I miss anything? :stuck_out_tongue:

Would say Crawley are now best placed .

Great day for them without playing

Anyone thinking DJs coming on and scoring due to some mythical sixth sense needs to give their head a wobble.

He’d be getting in the right positions for sure but no way on earth do we ever get in wide areas and put the ball into those positions.

Liam Gordon draws everyone into the near post (inc Josh Gordon annd 3 defenders) and then puts the ball there….every….single…god damn time.

Josh gets there too soon and all the space is closed off and all Liam needs to do is cut it back….boils my urine.

Foulkes delivery is far more intelligent than both Gordon and Knowles.

yes , he has real composure picking out the right pass, I have thought that too - very promising

I think it’s just the fact he’s by far and away our best striker at the club. By a country mile.

Not saying he should be starting after injury, but should be coming on today instead of Dougie for the last 10/15.

The rest of the options are dreadful.

Who exactly is thinking that DJ has a sixth sense? No one has suggested anything other than giving DJ some game time over the other forward options based on his past record and his football ability.

That’s my point!! DJs football ability would out him in the right positions but the ball never ever arrives to those positions so this narrative that DJ is a natural finisher and in turn would score goals during these performances isn’t true.

He’d suffer the same fate as anyone else which is frustration that the final ball isn’t right.

In that knowledge and knowing he offers very little else and won’t make something for himself from nothing I can see why he’s not used….that and his form so far this season and that he’s returning from injury….and anyone saying ā€œit’s just his toeā€ has clearly never broken their toe and then put on a football boot and invited 14 stone men to stamp on it…

I don’t think we have to analyse it that much mate.

He’s just better than DJT and Josh :joy::man_shrugging:t2:

I get the point about delivery. You’ll remember I’ve been annoyed by Gordon’s ability in the final third for a good 12 months now. It’s criminal.

Surely they wouldn’t be playing if they were 24 stone. On a serious note, a broken toe is no laughing matter.

Your missing the point…

Dj won’t be missing the chance Josh misses cos he’s never in a million years making that run….

It’s a sacrificial run and dj knows that….and he knows whoever makes it isn’t scoring…he’s positioning himself for where the ball should go when someone’s drawn every defender into that area……Liam hasn’t worked that out yet.

This mini-break has come at an ideal time for us. Time to regroup, restock and to go again. Plenty left to play for this season despite the little blip we’ve experienced.

DJ is a better goal scorer than Josh Gordon mate.

He knows what he’s doing much more.

Which is exactly what I just said. :man_facepalming:

I know dj isn’t saddlers cup of tea but there has to be more in it as to the reason he doesn’t play him , djt was shite last season and hasn’t improved why would you send him on and not dj madness ffs

Such a disappointing result today. The FGR result I can forgive as a blip after such a good run, but on top of the Barrow game and today’s result, we have wasted a really fgood opportunity to be in control of our own destiny. Whilst i accept all is not lost, it has cetrtainly made things more difficult. 3 points today should have been the minimum expectation.

Beating the top teams in the division counts for nothing when we constantly under-performe and toss it away against those at the bottom of the league. Injuries accepted, but we have still created chances and those players bought into the squad in January as the main goalscorers have contived to constantly miss chances. I love Josh Gordon to bits for his tenacity and work rate, but it needs goals at the end of it to make his inclusion in the side justifiable.

Similarly, I thought that Mo Faal woul be a fantastic signing for us, but for whatever reason he has not delivered given the clear chances in front of goal that he has had. How Albion have seen fit to give him an extended contract is beyond me at the moment, as he is struggling to prove himself to be a good Lge 2 striker, let alone one for the Championship. Should Albion actually get promoted, I can see him being released. Which would actually then raise the question as to whether or not he is worth taking a chance on? At the moment I am not convinced, but then it would depend upon what are other forward oprtions are.

I never thought I would say this, but we are clearly missing Jamma. Fair play to him for the way he has come back into the side after his injuries and shown what he can do. A proper pre-season under his belt this summer and he could almost be back to his best for next season. He is one I would definitely offfer a new contract to now.

The last couple of games DJT has shown why we must find someone better for that back-up striker role. I am sure he is a great lad in training and to have around the camp, but football is rooththless and can’t be made up on sentiment. He has not improved this season and done anything to positively change my view on him. Sorry, but we need to look elsewhere.

Not sure if Draper is injured at Lincoln lately, although back on the bench today, but I would try desperately to get him back here for next season. We have badly missed his physical presence, and constant harrassment of opposition CBs.

Clearly Knowles absence is a big miss for this side at the moment. He has his faults but he gives us something none of our other players can. Foulkes is a safe, solid back-up, but he will not set the world alight.

I think our midfield still looks unbalanced. If we had a good offer for Hutchinson, personally i would take it. A good player on his day, but he has now had 3 consequtive off-days. Similar spells have been frequent over the season. His role is so important, as if he doesnt show up, we tend to struggle. He also lacks any physical presence and hardly ever wins tackles or goes in for 50/50’s. If does it normally ends up in a foul. Hopefully Jellis, when fit, can be an as good, or better option.

Finally, Sadler. Difficult to crticise him too much given the turnaround in form in getting us up to where we are in the league. My full judgement on him will now be if he can turn the last three performances round and give us a strong finish to the season. Minimum 8 games remaining , with 4 at home. Anything less than 4 homes wins should not be accepted. Throw 2 away wins into the mix and we shoud hopefully make the play-offs. It we manage those 6 wins and still miss out, then there will not any arguments or negatives from me as we gave it a damned good shot but just fell short.
