D 1-1 vs Colchester United (A) - League Two - Sat 16th March, 3pm

Mixed feelings if it gets postponed because on the one hand it gives us a little breathing space with injuries but on the downside it adds to the fixture congestion and it will be a Tuesday night game.

Yeah sums things up for me

I think they’d be absolutely slated if they didn’t have one with the last 3 home games I think it is postponed. But if they can’t get it on tomorrow after the fairly dry week they’ve had in Essex then I don’t hold much hope for them getting another on all season!

I’ve made it clear that I feel for Riley. Wouldn’t wish his injuries on any player and I genuinely hope he sorts himself out for the future. The emoji was based on a comment that he can now after almost 2 years come in to a team chasing the play offs and make a significant contribution to a team chasing the play offs. That isn’t going to happen

Nothing to do with mocking his injuries

As you quite rightly say, the safety of the audience must take utmost priority.

Quite right, looking at the pic of the pitch I think there’s a risk of people developing a sandy or damp undercroft. :face_with_thermometer:

And that could delay them making their way to their designated seats on time.

And make their designated seats unusable.

So Colchester have altered the size of the pitch, I assume narrower and or shorter to avoid the problematic parts of the pitch

Colchester have had the approvement from the EFL to change the dimensions for tomorrows game

What a joke !!! They have gone down to the EFL minimum width (64m) and pretty damn close to minimum length (102m) I am sure we would have objected to this IF we hadn’t had the Swindon postponement creating a April fixture jam. Wing backs will be a pointless formation on this pitch BUT it may be ideal for DJ as even he could cover the ground on this five a side pitch

How big is the pitch at Bescot? Always thought it was on the small side.

Its 100m x 66m. So the revisd Colchester pitch will be 2m longer but 2m narrower than the Bescot.

according to Walsall FC: Poundland Bescot Stadium Guide | English Grounds - Football-Stadiums.co.uk our pitch is 100 x 66. However I think this may be out of date as Mike Flynn had the pitch adjusted so that the touchline was further infield and at that time was at minimum width.
edit: the minimum size according to the FA is 110yards (100.6 metres) x 70 yards (64 metres)
edit2 : the EFL handbook has the following:

13 Registration of Ground
13.1 The dimension of the field of play for all League organised matches shall be as follows:
Maximum length 120yds (110 metres)
Minimum length 110yds (100 metres)
Maximum width 80yds (75 metres)
Minimum width 70yds (64 metres)

Our pitch has always been tiny
When you go to Southampton or similar you realise that
We would be knackered on a bigger pitch !

Col U have released an image of their newly marked out pitch.

Is it true Port Vale has the biggest pitch in England still? or is that New Wembley now

I think it might be the widest pitch. First time I played on there I embarrassed myself trying a crossfield pass.

I think Orient may be the largest.
