The whole season has been really positive imo played some really good football but we are going to fail through being inconsistent and lack of a genuine striker and we shouldn’t keep banging on about dj I don’t think he would of made the difference anyway but the team have shown a togetherness that i haven’t seen for years and will need 3 or 4 additions to push on again next year
If we fall just short, it will mainly come down to poor finishing. If you think of the games where we’ve dropped points in over the run in we’ve had several guilt edged chances and one on ones that we’ve missed that would have made them different games, even MK.
Even after the great 5 win run we dropped points that shouldn’t have been dropped.
FGR - a day where everything went wrong but could’ve easily been 3 points
Barrow - although we didn’t deserve to win on the night, had Faal tucked away the sitter to make it 2-0 I suspect we would’ve have come away with 3 points
Colchester - a draw against an awful team who were there for the taking
Also not taking account the two points dropped at Crewe where we were good that day and the 2 points out of 12 we have got against FGR and Sutton this season.
Plenty of points that could and should’ve been gained that would have us in the top 7 rather than just outside.
True, but there have been games where we took more points than we deserved too. Stockport and Mansfield at home off the top of my head.
Definitely need to be more clinical if we’re to make top 7 though.
I think if Earing, Draper and Comley had played together more often then we’d have at least half a dozen more points. I don’t think Draper would have been anywhere near as wasteful with chances as Josh Gordon has. I think of the chances at Gillingham in particular but Crawley and Forest Green also.
I also think Comley, Earing and Hutch is the most coherent midfield we’ve had for years. You take anyone of those out and the balance shifts. We end up going all hybrid and it just doesn’t work as well.
Comparing Draper to Gordon is like comparing Coronation Street to Eldorado…
@TadleySaddler
@Locky
By the way, after the confusion with Tales on here, there’s a horse called Eldorado Allen running in the Grand National today! WTF!
Yeah I think we’ve missed Earing a lot. I hope next season we get it third time lucky and don’t build the attack around a loanee who leaves in Jan!
I think relying on a low knee will always be our Achilles heel…
That, equaliser right at the very end of the game, was down to a refereeing error.
You mean allowing the throw in to be taken from too far behind the touchline?
While the laws say that the throw should be taken where the ball went out, it is normal for referees to allow a bit of leeway for a quick throw-in, particularly if the player is not moving the ball up the pitch to gain territory. How much leeway is allowed is one of many things that are up to the referee. So it was more a matter of the referee’s discretion that went against us, rather than an actual error in fact or law.
You’re spot on mate. When Faal missed that sitter against Barrow, my immediate reaction was that was going to cost us big time. We would have gone on to win that game comfortably/
Colchester was another team we should have buried. That’s one thing (one of the things) that needs to change next season, we have to put away sides who are below us, especially at the bottom, we don’t have a good record doing that recently.
Leeway yes, but the throw-in was taken from beyond the perimeter wall and essentially within the area of the stand.
Win 4 of our last 3 and think we are shoe ins for the play offs
Mathematically possible realistically not.
Read it again Scoob
where we off tonight mate? Nice meal in the Spanish evening sunshine?

"No me culpes. Yo voté a favor de la permanencia."
I think it’s unlikely given our recent form but 9 points would probably nick 7th.
With Comley banned and Matt patently unfit there is a slim chance of DJ getting on the pitch purely based on the fact we are running out of players.
