Director of Football

He’s a massive ■■■■■ supposedly.

Martin O’Neill was watching ifollow probably :joy:

Lawrie Sanchez has applied I have just been told from a reliable source

Decent enough

Whoever it is will likely be managing the team for the remainder of the season as well just cant see Dutton turning this around in 2 weeks.

If we play like we did tonight against Southend & Grimsby, I can see us getting a win. Think Dutton will be here until end of season at least.

I thought exactly the same after the Cambridge performance…and then came Barrow!

I too can see Dutton being here until the end of the season and then it wouldn’t surprise me if Pomlett makes him permanent only for us to be in a similar position a few months into next season, then having to sack him and appoint a new manager who is then left with a with a squad Dutton put together in the summer, and so the cycle begins again…

Oh Yes! Its him!!!

I was under the impression that the new DOF would be tasked with the recruitment of new signings?

I’d be happy with that in terms of his experience and at a higher level he’ll know exactly what we need to sort out recruitment wise. I can’t remember what style of play he had when he managed though, so he ticks most boxes at the moment.

Very long ball.

His peak was about a decade ago managing Northern Ireland and then briefly Fulham in premier league.

Since then many random positions lower down the league. Can actually remember him signing a guy at Wycombe when they had striker crisis and advertised on teletext clubcall or something and he scored winner in FA cup so unusual recruitment worked in the past!

In that case it would be a no from me! That is as important as anything for me after some of shit we’ve been served up since.

Football director is not a manager. He doesn’t need to know how to win games. But he must know how to organise a football club. How to organise coaching, how to organise youth development, how to organise older players development, how to organise scouting and must know all rules of law in football. I don’t wanna see once again situation, when the manager doesn’t know why other clubs are trying to sign contract agreement with players you see on the training ground.
e: And of course how to organise recruitment process of players and coaches. So as you could see, very easy job to do.

Wait til they are told the budget to do the recruitment with. Probably walk straight out of the door.

Nah, take whoever to our state of the art training ground, bound to impress em, well that’s what’s been said in the past.

It’s actually a really exciting opportunity, we should get some strong candidates.

Indeed. Really hope it’s someone unfamiliar to most of us. Someone with experience outside the U.K.

Cue the “Jeff’s pool cleaner’s cousins husband’s” outrage now

It will be interesting and will hopefully answer a lot of the questions we all currently have.

For example an experienced DOF will know from day 1 if BD is up to the task. I reckon we may see some big changes.
