i’d prefer everyone to be a bit more positive and get behind the team yes we are not on a good run of form and are a bit fortunate to still be top.
we are top though and this team deserves every bit of positivity we can muster for the home straight.
That finishing line is now in sight and we all have a big part to play in getting us over the line. UTS
I rate Doncaster highly and they will be massively up for this.I expect them to be too strong fot us tomorrow. A point would be a superb result but i am afraid i can only see defeat. That said if we do lose keep calm and on to Vale and the final 6 games. I think we will still get to 80 points and that should be enough for top 3
I’ve watched them less than most other promotion rivals, maybe three or four times plus highlights and in my opinion they’re just the same as everyone else just extremely limited bang average 4th division dross.
The same as us and whoever goes up from this league, its an almost clean sweep turn over in the quality of playing staff required for survival. Unless I’m missing something.
Apart from the 2 5/6 weeks ago?
Three months is pure hyperbole.
League results for the last 3 month are won5, Drawn 7, lost 5.
2 losses in Jan, 1 in Feb and 2 in March.
Not as totally shit as some seem to believe, we’re just drawing too many games and they’re often ones we should’ve won.
Nervous for this one tonight. I will be there, typically I can’t make midweek away games, but I thought I had to make an exception for this one given how big it is.
Can’t see us getting anything from it unfortunately. Not wanting to be negative, I just can’t see it - I would snap your hand off for a draw right now. Hope I’m wrong.
I honestly can’t think what advantage Sadler and his ‘yes men’ ( coaching team) think we get from Jamma wrestling center halves 40yds away from goal until he’s too tired to do it anymore, and then gets substituted.
The benefit of playing Jamma is we defend higher up the pitch. He competes and puts defenders under pressure. When we played Jamma and Lowe the opposition didn’t have as many opportunities to build from the back.
Now we allow them possession, Lakin and Jellis sit deeper and so we defend deeper, inviting more balls into the box and conceding more.
We have to get further up the pitch and retain possession or at least put the defenders under pressure. Which of our attackers do this apart from Matt?
For me, a draw would be fine, same with the Vale game. It’s prohibits our rivals from gaining points. 3 points from these 3 ‘more difficult’ games, then crack and win a couple of the next 3 games.
Matt has his wrestling matches with the center halves, 95% of the time he doesn’t gain or keep possession. It’s just a totally pointless exercise hoofing the ball up to him every time. We only look dangerous when one of the wingbacks makes a bit of space for himself and gets a decent cross in. Matt has shown how useful he is in the area with some really basic misses just lately. At least when Levi came on he had a couple of dangerous runs with the ball, something Jamma is incapable of. I look forward to seeing Jamma when he retires, he’ll probably become a professional wrestler…
We did not dominate possession when Matt and Lowe were up front.
For example, in the eight winning league games before Lowe left:
3rd Dec Notts County 24% possession, won 3-2
7th Dec Port Vale 41% possession, won 1-0
14th Dec Barrow 48% possession, won 1-0
21st Dec Harrogate 45% possession, won 2-0
26th Dec Doncaster 43% possession, won 2-0
29th Dec Newport 33% possession, won 2-0
1st Jan Notts County 27% possession, won 2-1
11th Jan Tranmere 45% possession, won 5-1
Since Lowe left, if anything the possession statistics are a little higher, but I don’t think we have achieved 50%.
