fair play doing that bit of analysis.
Lavery was perhaps unfairly maligned looking at that.

Yeah he’s the one name that jumps out as in a position you wouldn’t expect (he also scored some nice goals too. There was a lovely chip during Covid times if I remember right).
Goes to show how awful Our current strike force is at actual Being a striker without dj in the team
Faal was a short period but that’s impressive
Yeah that is the caveat with Faal, although I always thought his scoring rate was fine, it was the rest of his game. He missed some absolute sitters in that time as well that would have made it even more impressive. I still think if he scores against MK Dons its a different game (not that it’s his fault, we were abysmal as a team that day.
It sort of says to me, looking at the names and who I rated, anything under 250 is good, 250 - 300 is ok and anything above that is not really good enough.
I’d also highlight Andy Williams, who I got pelters for not rating at all. He had plenty of game time too.
What that screams to me, even more so in the present recruitment predicament, is that a fit and firing DJ could make a big difference. Even more so with Adomah around who can actually pass and cross to strikers.
Controversial but at least Miller did score. i know he missed a lot of chances but he did find the net quite often
DJ during the loan.
A great bit of data. Agree ln what people have said about lavery. Heck, even jake scrimshaw is above flash in those stats!! And he was a real headless chicken at times!!
What all this states to us as fans is … please Walsall sign some decent strikers
Just looking at these again, it’s surprising how good they are. Take the much maligned JG. He scores every 360 minutes, or one in every 4 games, meaning 11 or 12 a season if he played every game. DJ would be 26 league goals. So, if those two played up front every game, on average we could expect 37 or 38 goals from them. Last season, the strikers got between them, 29 if you count Oteh as midfield.
That is not an impressive rate If he played every single minute of the season he might score 11 goals? Yeah nah.
No, I am saying that if our strikers played to their average, we would get 30+ goals a season from the front two, which is not brilliant but not so bad either.
In an earlier exchange, I suggested that Josh might get 10-12 goals this season and you dismissed that but your figures show it is a reasonable expectation.
Yeah, I admit, if he played literally every single second of a season he might get 10-12 goals To be fair, at this rate, he might have too.
JG’s superb injury record is his best asset to us, unironically.
Well with the situation we are in with strikers,12 goals in a season would be a godsend.
So would one player managing to play ever single second of a season up front.
I seem to remember him having a few injuries last time he was with us, he was out for over 3 months at one point I think.
The game he plays with all the running, when the pitches get heavier he will no doubt pick up a few niggles.
He missed quite a few games, under Clarke I think. with a long term injury.
I can’t believe our striking options are so poor that now the thought process is “well, if Josh Gordon plays literally every minute his scoring record isn’t THAT bad”.
Yeah, I think it was during Covid. I seem to remember a lot on here counting the days until he was back (seriously)
