I qualify for an Irish passport and its my daughter’s birthday today.

She is immensely grateful she wasn’t named Patricia.

You’d think Ireland would be massive with the amount of people who claim to be Irish in st Patrick’s Day, specially American’s :joy:

I was surprised to see that the Irish population in the mid 19thC was as high as it is now (~8million). Then the famine kicked in and it stayed below 5 million until the 1980s. Given this is a Catholic country, with a relatively high birth rate, an awful lot would have left.
