Fitzwater gone

I’m presuming the Greg Halford rumour has resurfaced and this is who the poster is hinting at.

Return of Andy Butler :crossed_fingers:

Think we can rule that out. Playing every week for a Donny side with decent chance of making top 6.

Depends if he likes scratchings

Halford is currently training at Luton Town, having worked with Mick Harford in the past.

Even with a solid centre half in, none of the back 4 have any pace. The likes of a Nicky Ajose just run through a dodgy back line in virtually every game.

Ironically given what has happened to Rowett since, but it does, in our current plight, emphasise why Kory Roberts was rated so highly. He and Chambers would walk into our current starting 11 if they were fit.

Agreed, we need to steady the ship. However the back 5 will be completely different next season.

As a player with local connections in the bargain basement that Walsall tend to shop at? Manny Smith anyone?

I’d welcome Downing back! Certainly better than what we have!

BUT!

Can we not keep going for players who have left us for other clubs! Can we not use this new scouting network and sign some accomplished players who have experience and can compete in League 1?

Now there was a player , lived in Blackpool as i remember , and was allowed to train alone jogging the beach back home , and boy did he show that he did , there was never a need by the manager to check he was doing it …what an absolute professional

This. But it’s not a case of wanting to go back for players who were here before, mostly under the good atmosphere of Dean Smith’s last few years. It’s more of a case of having to as we aren’t an attractive choice to many so we go back to former players, reminding them how it used to be when they were playing for us, in good form, got a good move which didn’t work out, come back and refind that form, remember those good old days?! Etc, etc. It’s all we have to offer. Sad really, thanks for that board of directors who have failed miserably in building on feel good factors.

Shows how bad our scouting system is that we always go back to former players instead of up and coming players :see_no_evil:

Sometimes it’s better the devil you know though. After watching the highlights reel, Leahy looked good and Devlin was captain fantastic at Ayr. Now they’re sitting on decent wages and overseeing one of the worst defences in living memory. If we sign players who are better than what we’ve got at the moment, the team gets strengthened. At the moment, beggars can’t be choosers, methinks…

no its not him mate.

Downing will most likely end up at Burton Albion, Cloughies saying he is signing a new centre half this week.

Downing won’t step foot back in this club after the abuse he received.

By that logic no players would ever come back :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Alreday missing out on players, according to Keates it seems.

Seems to me he’s trying to cover his back , either that or he’s stirring the pot.
