I’ve said it a few times up the thread.
Question ? Why are we playing jellis on the left on his weaker foot to accommodate mcentee when jellis does so well on the right with Barrett ?
Can’t mcentee do an adequate job on the left rather than weakening us ?
Really concerning performance tonight - this wasn’t a small drop off in levels, it was massive, and at both ends. We’ve looked awful at the back and going forward.
Possible mitigations:
- Bradford was a knock to confidence
- We’ve missed Matt
- Teams have realised that without Lowe, they have less to fear of us, and will press us more aggressively
- 2 100+mile away days in 4 days
- Key players off their game - Jellis, Barrett, Stirk, Gordon all off it tonight
- Pitch looked a bit iffy
Many more performances like this and the lead, whatever it is tonight, will be whittled away before you know it. We all assumed a blip would come, but if it’s a few listless defeats like this those behind us will sniff blood and I fear confidence could disappear.
Over to Trivela now - so much business to do. Move Josh Gordon and DJ on and start preparing for life in League 1. Get some suitable midfielders in who will keep Jellis and Lakin hungry. Add a couple of forwards, preferably on permanents, Wheatley doesn’t look quite ready.
Big 5 days now, and how we come out of them will define the season IMO - run away with the league, or potentially let promotion slip. Disappointed it we haven’t already grasped this as a club, but here we are.
They stayed over night in Leeds for the Bradford game. Warra waste of money that was
He always seems to pop up in my feed on Twitter, the Dingle ass licking clown.
Second half was slightly better than first, but that’s only positive. I was thinking we will be better prepared for transfer from the club, but that seems to be a deeper issue. There is always next game, right.
They didn’t have to do much to beat us…over to you Trivela
Yeh that’s my reading too.
Cack. Utter dogshit.
One to digest a bit more tomorrow.
Night guys
Fleetwood really seem to have worked us out. They were much more comfortable tonight than in the 2-6. We had more possession than usual which has been a clear sign this season that we are not being effective. It’s not often this season that you could say that we could play all night and not score.
We still have a massive lead and there is no reason to panic but the last 2 games have been like previous seasons. I think Matt’s return might be important - it is too much to ask Wheatley to play that role and he will get a lot more space with Matt around.
Depressing.
Big couple of days now for the club.
Desperate for a midfielder with some quality and a big forward, for me not loan players either.
I think our fall off in form was bound to happen at some stage in the season. The key is how quickly we recover our best form. That will be helped by the return of Matt or the signing of an equivalent player . We also need to get Jellis fully fit and played in his best position. If those two things happen I am sure our other players will get back to form. We must also expect Wheatley to do well for us as he settles in. UTS.
Wheatley and Albert up front instead of Lowe and Matt.
Nothing more to say really…
How are we still 11 clear
Even at our very worst end to the seasons we’ll still finish on 70 odd.
I’m sure we’d have taken that at the start of the season…
Two forwards (DJ out ) and 2 midfielders in. 2 at least that are permanent and of real quality. 1 foward must have real presence up front
Decent second half from us after a nonsense first half. Conceded from a couple of set pieces - it’s hardly as if Fleetwood were carving us apart. I’m a bit worried that our defence has started to switch off and now might be a good time to introduce DD - if only he was fit…
Not panicking yet - I’ll wait until after the Salford game to do that!
I can’t believe we’re still 11 points ahead. Imagine if we’d beaten Bradford and Fleetwood - then we’d be 17 point ahead! - At least this makes it interesting.
We need a big target man though - it’s integral to the way we play.
Respect to all the fans that made the journey up North this eve.
Low on confidence,
Lost a talismanic striker
Two gruelling away trips
Injury to key players
Illness in the camp
Self-doubt creeping in
…all contributing factors which explain the mini slump.
I sodding well hate Mark Robins
miss DD tonight at the back
???
We havent missed him for the previous games all season!
