Former players - where are they now?

Did James Clarke play for Newport and did McDonald start for Morecambe?

Clarke come on as sub. Wes started.

Or WRUNG works too :grinning:

Well he’s there again now…

Meanwhile, Guthrie (the centre-half as apposed to the Pukka-Pie share holder) gets in the team of the week for Northampton (he and Roberts forming a brick wall to Port Vale)

I wonder what the other Guthrie is doing these days? (The pukka pies one, not the Cocteau twins guitarist!)

Went to Iceland didn’t he?

The question is the country or food store?

The latter first

My nephew said he is unreal in training, and his pedigree of being an ex pro shows.

I thought he was a good player Chunk, bit of a lost generation of technically proficient youth teamers (Roberts, Sangha, Shorrock, Peters etc) that fell away under Whitney.

I thought he was good as well @simon could have got much better with a good run of games. Didn’t do a lot wrong for me. Like his back story as well would’ve been good to have a British Asian lad make it with Walsall. Especially an Afghan. Beacon of hope n all that.

Well he has put himself back in the shop window so to speak, hopefully he will be picked up by another league team in the future.

We had Netan Sansara and Mal Benning. I would have liked them to have played a bit longer for us.

Yeah and me to those pair as well Andy.

Was in year below me at QM mal was. Nice lad.

I must be feeling maudlin today but I thought about our former players who were no longer with us and if people knew where they are buried. It would be nice to place flowers on their birthday.

More positively, I then wondered about a memorial to any of our players. Fulham have a great statue of Johnny Haynes outside Craven Cottage. How about one of Colin Taylor, Alan Buckley…? Or something else?

When did Alan Buckley pass away?

He hasn’t

He never gave a pass away but he was better known for his predatory instinct in the box…

Trying to lighten the mood which was getting a little grave.

On that subject, I know the club are now extinct but whenever I drive past Cemetery Road, I think that this would have been a better stadium name for Bury than Gigg Lane.
