According to Viking Chat (Doncaster Rovers board) Lee Tomlin has just signed for Ilkeston Town, as Player/Coach.
One comment was that it would probably be Coach rather than Player, with his injury record…

He played in the first game.
So did I in Pattingham, near Wolverhampton. Me and my best mate were saddlers (he came with me to a game against Carlisle - Steve Baines scored for both teams and he was hooked) in a place which was almost exclusively Wolves. Great banter at the newsagents every Saturday tea time!
I thought he was a really good referee. I think fans liked him, and managers liked him, but the assessors had a problem with him because he let too much go. He said he could tell a bad foul from a bit of nothing and was happy just to clamp down when it was necessary.
He did at least a couple of our games, he didn’t show any bias he was just a good ref.
The game would benefit from more ex-players like him becoming referees.
