I’m cynical because I’ve been very positive pretty much every season since I’ve been a kid. Always think we will do well and go up, or survive in the champ.
I think I probably speak for a few, but the last 4/5 seasons have absolutely killed off my optimism, and now I’m just expecting the worst. Maybe that just means I won’t be disappointed?
I’ve just been sick of it. In my heart of hearts, I’d love us to lamp everyone and finish in the autos - but my head is just saying ‘Nope, give it a few weeks and we will be crap again”.
I don’t think it’s ’optimism’ though. It’s just reality about what’s happened on the pitch so far. The previous seasons don’t really have any baring on this set of players and I don’t think it’s fair to tar them with the failures of past teams.
I fully get where your coming from , years of supporting Walsall we get use to getting our hopes up and it all comes crashing down season after season ,We do look very much improved but as a long life Walsall fan , we always breath on the side of caution .Let’s celibate the win and worry about the next game later
Just got in as they went 2-0 up and watched the rest.
That’s the best I’ve seen us play in years, proper football, fabulous and absolutely night and day to last Saturday’s football free, 90 odd minute wrestling match.
Can we just carry on doing this more often, win lose or draw?? Earing makes such a difference as he can actually control and pass the ball, and gets up the pitch to support and go beyond the strikers in the time honoured tradition ditto Uncle Albert.
I just hope this is the last we’ve seen of humping the ball to Matt.
For people calling for balance, firstly why?? And if we need balance to analysing the forever beautifuly simple game of association football where Walsall are concerned, I would argue it should be in appealing to those that contort themselves into finding merit in the joyless one dimensional tripe that was exemplified by the Tranmere game and eons of similar boring crap that have been served up in recent years.
And it looks like we may have unearthed another good ‘un on loan.
This side may well have the talent to do far better than recent seasons. The question marks so far are all mental. Do we have the mental strength in big moments to be cool, calm and calculated?
Great bounce back from Saturday.
Well done all who went and cheered the lads on.
As for me, I was amongst 38,000 at Goodisonbut as Everton put the game to bed, I spent most of the last 15 minutes looking at my phone.
