I can’t believe I’m agreeing with CS but I think he sums up the Jellis signing very well and totally agree with his summary, spot on mate. I’m going for a lie down now, I must be coming down with something.
So you’re saying, at 23, he’s still 18 months to 2 years away from being near the first team on a regular basis?
No
JJ is a good signing, definitely one for the future, good forward thinking by the club and Trivela.
We need to be grateful we have Trivela backing the club. BB is obviously heavily involved in how the club is run and has a clear path for its future.
We’ve had the best January I can remember for a long time as far as the signings go. No more last minute panic buys on players who are well past it or not good enough. The Trivela plan is beginning to unravel and is making a lot of sense to a lot of the fans…long may it continue!
I don’t think he has. It is detrimental to how the team plays - he is absolutely not a number 8 if you want to get promoted.
Read about gegenpressing. Read and understand there’s more than one way to play and succeed.
Wrong. I have understood that, and I also understand the modern game and what is needed. It is a complete myth that he is some sort of ‘gegenpress’ lord.
Are Liverpool playing Virgil van Dijk as an 8? Are Bayern putting De Ligt as a 10?
Sure, there are different ways to play 0- but I don’t see any team in the top 7 with a centre half as a number 8 and with a back 3.
By the way, I think that stepping into midfield to rotate like Daniels has been doing on the left side, will suit Mcentee to a tee.
A back 3 of McEntee Farq and Daniels would be one of the best, if not the best, back 3 in the division.
Great to have him back!
I reckon he’s been off undertaking a short term consultancy role at a Premier League club, this role is complete - big payment in the bank + bonuses - and now he’s back to impart his undeniable footballing insight and knowledge onto the minions of UTS. So honoured.
Well, that’s how he dreamt it last night, anyway.
Joking aside, I have agreed with 2 of his posts since he’s been back which is more than the entirety of his previous stints
I think that should be “explanation”, El N
Boring hell. Can people stick to being over excited about a prospect we know virtually nothing about and stay on topic?
We’re a broad church on the UTS site. I quite like the diversity of posters - it’s good to get different views on something we all have a passion for: Walsall FC! And let’s face it, it ain’t easy following this club - sometimes it’s good to have a rant -it’s good for the soul.
We don’t have Liverpools and Bayerns resources
Go and show me who is playing an effective ‘gegenpress’ in league two please.
(with a centre half as an 8 in a 352)
See Knowles chance against FGR. Yet again I have to educate you.
You are the one referring to Mcentee now, but previously you said Stirk and comley too. It’s the whole concept you don’t understand.
We don’t play “gegenpressing” though.
I’m by no means an expert but I believe it is in simple terms when a team attempts to immediately win the ball back after losing it, rather than drop back in to it’s shape, a bit like we did when Graydon was manager for example.
That just isn’t how we play, and our possession stats kind of back that up, unless we are doing a really bad job of winning the ball back quickly of course. Having Mcentee or anyone else chasing round in midfield doesn’t equate to gegenpressing. That isn’t knocking McEntee, he did a decent job in my opinion but the fact is for me is that he is a far better center back than he is midfielder.
Precisely.
You have no idea what you are talking about.
See Knowles chance against FGR
No you don’t. You think there’s only one way to play and when you see something different never try to understand what’s happening
