Jamie Jellis signs

This is trolling.

Anyway, back to topic.

I think Jellis will be one of the backups if Hutch or Earring are injured/tired/not working. A position that was needed.

Again, you have no idea that you are talking about.

Gegenpress in league two with a centre half

That’s me done for the day.

Yeah, very little to offer in terms of evidence as usual

It what way do our possession stats not back it up?

You should go back and read the “Next manager” thread, see how that looks now……

Then try my Tom Knowles posts….:rofl:

If you feel really brave you can then try the Liam bennet ones :rofl:

*tongue in cheek

Well if you are aiming to win the ball back as quickly as possible after losing it then it stands to reason that you should be having higher possession stats, if you are doing it well. I think of Liverpool as an example of a team that does it and they regularly have 65-70% possession.

If you are aiming to win the ball back as quickly as possible and are having less possession than the opposition on a regular basis, then I would suggest something is going wrong. Nothing wrong with having less possession than the opposition by the way, plenty of ways to win a football match, You just often talk about something that in reality isn’t really happening. In my opinion.

Not really, if you aim to win it back then create a chance as soon as possible then you wouldn’t expect to have much possession. especially if you are playing a team that tries to retain possession.

Again you ignore the example I provide too.

How many goals have we scored this season in this way? I don’t know by the way, or have any way of finding out. I’d suggest it isn’t that many but I could be totally wrong.

I did miss your example to be fair, I’m not sure about “again”, it got lost in between me posting. I’d suggest more than one example would be needed if our whole game plan is based around it though.

I’ll be honest, sometimes I get more immersed in the actual game as a contest than the tactical side of things, and I always have a couple of kids with me. I am going to try and pay more attention tomorrow to certain things and I will post on the match thread.

We had a chance against FGR so that proves it

Not sure what you have to evidence that other than it being your opinion?

As I said before, which you’ve ignored, which you have a penchant for doing when it doesn’t follow the narrative (I think we get on well enough for me to say that with a wink :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:), have performances without him been any more impressive than those with him?

Stockport at home? Crewe away? Salford away? Bradford away? Gillingham at home? Notts County away?

Any of those less impressive than Wrexham at home?

Stockport away wasn’t great. I’ve said it before but Grimsby wasn’t that great…scoreline apart they bossed the game and we hit them on the counter for two goals before half time. Second half again could’ve swung on two penalty decisions in the space of a few minutes.

So I’m not sure what you’re really basing this on other than you nailed your colours to the mast early doors and the Wrexham and Grimsby games with Earing returning full of beans have fueled your confirmation bias.

As an example here are the stats for the Harrogate at home game and Grimsby away…and I know it’s a results business but you’d be hard pressed to argue that the performance without him in midfield (Grimsby) compared with the one with him (Harrogate), had any real influence on the performance or style in which we played….other than being influenced by the scoreline.

Being 19th in League two.

And before you say… no, not the only reason. But just a reason.

Welcome to the Saddlers Jamie

That’s the best you can do?

McEntee in midfield was the reason for that and the reason for a supposed improvement in style of play?

Not form, improvement, individual performances, opposition, fixtures order, luck….all players who returned from injury (earing included) but mainly Preistly?

But we haven’t played that way every game all season, so not sure what point you are making.

My point is the assumption that if Comley/Stirk/mcentee/Tierney are playing advanced midfield then ‘Sadler doesn’t know what he is doing’ because these players ‘aren’t de Bruyne creating chances’.

I agree with the they ‘aren’t De Bruyne’ point, but posters (by and large a certain academic with a closed mind) with this view are completely missing the point that they aren’t meant to be pinging through balls for ‘aguero’ to finish.

They are creating chances by winning the ball back which as I understand it is one of the most productive way of scoring goals. It is also a sensible tactic against teams that hold possession in defence (e,g Salford, Crawley, Notts County).

I don’t mind posters saying ‘I don’t like that way of playing’ but this repeated assumption that these players are being picked for a role they clearly aren’t is what is frustrating and shows a lack of understanding by the posters who do this.

Gengenpress at league 2 level would just leave our players knackered by half time and space left everywhere for the other team to just walk through

We did a pretty good press in the second half against Notts County and did not run out of steam.

I see Jellis as a replacement for Tierney, by the way.
