Kory Roberts - Does DC rate him?

Not all players can return after such injury, so it was always big ask, if he can do it. It’s not if manager rate him, or not, but how player will play. Not once or twice per month, but if he’s ready to play every week on some level. Soon it will be two years after injury, so something needs to be decided, I suppose.

Disagree, players should be able to stand out amongst kids in a reserve game against Chasetown or Darlaston if they’re worthy of being given a chance in the league.

Love to see him return to the potential he showed but I very much doubt it, I suffered a break to the fibia and tibia at 17 playing football which resulted in pins and plates in my left leg, I was never ever able to spring and jump off that leg again.
I watched him warming up pre season at Notts County and remember saying to my lad he wouldn’t come back from the injury, I sincerely hope he does because prior to that injury he never looked out of place playing centre half.

Sorry that happened to you pal. I tore both my anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments (along with the medial and lateral ones too) and can only empathise.

It has a massive effect not just physically, but mentally too.

I thought he stood out in League One to be fair so I’d say he’s earned that chance.

As for peoples anecdotes about injuries, Cesc Fabregas won a champs league And a World Cup after his and Aaron Ramsey players for Juve now after the exact same injury so I reckon there’s a chance he could still do a job In League 2. But I know, I know, money heels peoples leg breaks better apparently.

Does anyone remember Stuart Ryder? similar situation only he was a better player and selected for England under 21s never the same after his serious injury not everyone comes back as good.

Don’t see the harm in giving him starts in the run in if his body can hold up

Don’t know if likes of Sadler or J. Clarke will be here next season so could be needing a new CB or two in the summer.

Despite the team improvement it’s only been two clean sheets kept since Boxing day so still room for improvement in that area (and that’s with a very defensive minded midfield) so to me it’s logical some of the fringe/young players get chances in last 10 games.

Yes for all I love the “dna” “ give youth a chance” line, you can usually tell a player.

The same people go on about Hardy, and Candlin. It’s meant well but professional football is a brutal game. Roberts may fall this way, he got 20 odd appearances which is nothing, especially at this level. Injuries also finish people off. Likewise there’s hundreds of lads who look good semi pro, but just ain’t got it.

He’s been poor since coming back , but yet again you know better than the management , coaches and medical staff… give me strength.

Perfect example mate, the injury ruined him along with a long list of other players.

Cheers pal, i had the pins and plates removed 16 years later as they had began to cause discomfort, we was on a family holiday to woolacombe three weeks later when I went to kick a ball in the arcade (those on the end of the rope) I kicked it with a little force and my leg suffered an hairline fracture, I was 17 when I did original injury playing in blokes league in Walsall and district, I was left wing (left footed) as the ball come towards me I had my back to the right back I flicked it round him with my right foot and spun round to go round his left hand side, a collision took place (no intent) and it resulted in a freak injury just like Kory’s was and breaking the fibia and tibia.
It’s defin psychological I would use the lift years later as opposed to the stairs in case I fell, I was in a bad place for a few years tbf pal.
43 now and tbf other than real cold weather when I get aches and pins and needles in it I am sound, horrific injury thou.

Erm. Yes.

I’ve said before that the horrific injury that Kory suffered would be one that ended his career at professional level, I was amazed he was involved pre season and when he made some token first team appearances. I really hope that I’m wrong, but agree that it’s not only a physical battle but also and probably more a mental well being one, I really hope he wins both of them.

That’s the opposite of what I’m saying. We haven’t seen him in an actual game situation so we have no idea how poor he’s been since coming back. And even if he has been he’s a 22 year old kid full of promise that could kick on. We’re in no position to be throwing that away according to the oh mighty one himself because we can’t compete with the top 10 financially. But well done on trying to dull down my point “yet again”.

The amount of people pretending players haven’t reached the highest point in the game after leg breaks, never mind be useful at league 2 level is genuinely astounding. Mostly the same people who tell me to “get behind the lads FFS” as well.

I think you’ll see from the above posts that you’re on your own on this one.

Each point you have made has been exposed as silly or not true.

But you know better than trained surgeons, managers, coaches and fitness specialists so maybe we should listen

Yeah, just like I was on my own when I criticised certain signings and said this squad will be no better than mid table when Pomlett was talking about Promotion.

At this point, that’s virtually a certificate of accuracy in regards to certain posters

How can you justify putting him in an actual game situation when he’s clearly not hitting what he’s supposed to in training?

It doesn’t matter if he’s full of promise. If he’s not doing the basics, whether it be related to his injury or not, then he shouldn’t be playing. It’s that simple.

Yeah it’s fairly basic. I don’t understand how anyone can’t get that.

Because I don’t trust Darrell Clarke’s judgement of player performance considering some of his wacky selections and reasoning’s over the course of the season. It’s that simple.

No that’s not me saying “I know better than the manager”. Yes I know any critcism is treated by some as the height of treachury. I just disagree with some of his decision.

I can only judge with my own two eyes and whenever I have seen him play I’ve never thought “useless get rid”. Fairly basic too :man_shrugging:

Seeeping, generalised statement about one of the key parts of a managers ability.

And as such, this is a contradiction within about 20 words.
