Still Wilkinson and Labadie to come in as well as a couple more potentially really looking good for the season.
Did Ward play as a wing back today or LCB?
Neither. He played left back.
Ward played left back in a 4-2-3-1 formation for the first half then moved into CDM for a brief period in the 2nd half swapping with the port vale lad who’s name escapes me before being substituted.
I think all the players did ok, but saw nothing to get overexcited about. I would say that White had the most impressive game, based on who he was marking. Nice cameo from Maher, who may well develop into a good player. Taking into account the opposition, we competed quite well. Obviously very early days and hopefully we should be even more competitive at our league level.
It was interesting hearing Taylor talk about Maher after the game. Got his place in the squad today after he watched him in a couple of development games. After having two managers who seemed like the youth teams were a hinderance that is very refreshing.
In terms of the extra striker we might just about need, I was thinking it was a shame we havn’t got anyone showing through the ranks that could fill that role. It would be a real bonus if that scenario was about to unfold.
Ramred you seem to be under the impression I was criticising the club I wasn’t, they are just teething issues you have to expect and are easily sorted out.
Parking the page I looked at clearly said £3 for friendlies so there is probably a bit of inconsistency between pages which is easy sorted and I’m not going to go running to the club asking for £2 back.
The cashless they do need to sort, they need a pdq per server otherwise that will become a real problem if they are going to go completely cashless. Personally I’m right behind it, it will definitely speed up serving.
On the stewards of course they are just trying to follow the guidelines, just needs a bit of clarification for them, not all stewards they were generally fine and most didn’t insist on you say why you are exempt but the couple that did are not enforcing the law they are breaking it, it is actually illegal to insist that people disclose medical information and to treat them differently if they don’t. Having said that non of them actually did, when told they are not allow to insist they accepted it and did not push it further, so perhaps they do know and just a couple were being a bit pushy.
Non of these teething issued really impacted on an excellent experience and all in all you get a sense of a great transformational change that the club should be congratulated on.
Not really interested in seats, chips, tactics, stats etc………did he wave ?
No but he barked a lot.
“Sea lions on a shirt…”
Are there any links to Matt’s post match interview mate I can’t see anything?
My QR Code was rejected, had to go to the ticket office who told me I was already in the ground , they had to print off one of those thingymejig tickets from back in the day
Do you know what I really want this bloke to succeed he’s so much more approachable and speaks so much better than the previous manager. But most of all I want his jacket can I buy one?
Just watched the highlights.
Couple of great saves from the new keeper and unlucky with the shot that hit the bar after a marvellous bit of forward play.
Promising.
Me too mate Keeper put in a good display nice and alert quick off his line and read the game well when coming a good way to collect at the palace players feet.Thought Phillips did well to dink it over the palace defender then was unlucky to hit the bar as you say very promising.
Yep, before I couldn’t be bothered sitting in the saharan sun at about 75 minutes, I was really pleased with the ball retention and the quality of the new arrivals in general. Real promise I think, the burlem mongs are welcome to Mr Clarke.
Btw, it was bloody emotional when the game started. It was great to be there again.
I was also very emotional when the game started, since I was still sitting on the bombsite masquerading as the A34 at Perry Barr.
Still, at least the club were diligent enough to tell us that J10 was OK.
Refers to the ground as ‘The Bescot’. Excellent.
