L 1-0 vs Harrogate Town (H) - League Two - Sat 11th Nov, 3pm

Only one Walsall win in last five league fixtures against Harrogate. We need to improve that disappointing stat with a convincing win tomorrow!

They are on a run of 5 away wins!!! Time for it to end…

With a full squad, I would have expected a comfortable win but with so many injuries, it is far from sure. I hope that we can avoid conceding in the first quarter of the game for once.

And in Sadlers defence, our record in the 8 games he hasn’t started is far better than in the 8 he has. Night and day different.

That said, a lot of that difference is due to the form of Draper. As Draper is out tomorrow DJ should surely start with Matt to come on at 70 minutes to replace him.

Will there be face painters in attendance. I have noted that when the face painter is in the fan zone we tend to win. When they are not there we lose or draw. Hopefully we find out when the the guide for the day comes out. I find the guide for the day a god send as it provides structure to my day - lost without it - just hope my printer has enough ink to print it.

Yes, in the 5 league games where didn’t feature at all we won 4 and drew 1.

In the 3 where he didn’t start but came on as sub we won 0, drew 2 (including Crawley where he scored our goal) and lost 1.

In his 8 starts we won 1 (Stockport in which he scored), drew 2, lost 5.

Hardly a damning indictment of Sadler’s judgment - he’s not been a lucky omen for us so far.

That’s not to say he’s not a good player to have in the team or that we shouldn’t play him at all, just that the stats don’t back up that we absolutely have to start him every game. Given that Draper won’t be available tomorrow, then yes for me he does get the nod to start ahead of DJT - just as he has been in all league games so far (it’s only the various cup and trophy games where Dougie has been given a start).

I’ve got half a can of yellow emulsion I can bring down if you think it would help.
Would you prefer a brush, or a roller?

I wouldn’t attach too much importance to this. I suspect it’s just coincidence more than anything.

When it gives a time for supporters “to make their way to their allocated seat” does that mean leave the BCA and head to the train station?

You do realise that staying in the pub so late means that you miss all the wonderful pre-match entertainment that the club lays on for those who take their seats at a fitting time.

In the sixties, I do remember the Moody Blues playing before the game. It was while Denny Laine was still with them.

Denny Crane - undefeated, Saddler would be mad not to include him on the Bench .

Edit wrong Denny , wrong DC it’s the mad cow you see

We’ve got this

These are the types of games we have to win if we are to have a decent progressive season.Beat these at a canter and I’ll start to believe we can progress, draw or lose and I’ll feel like we aren’t going to get anywhere.

I would imagine that it would be an almighty wrench to leave a buzzing undercroft to take your seat too early.

Shame no one answered this as I was keen on some insights

I’ve watched the highlights of their last few games and gleaned the following about Harrogate

  • Seem to play 4-4-2

  • Generally like to pass, but do mix it with long balls too

  • Danger men seem to be number 12 Folarin (left winger) and 10 Armstrong (striker) as such they seem more dangerous down their left than their right. Perhaps bad news for us as our right side isn’t our strongest. Folarin doesn’t always seem to start though.

  • Mansfield beat them 4-1, with a lot of their goals from players flooding forward and overwhelming their defence, so perhaps we can emulate this as it is in line with ‘front foot football’.

I would play 4-3-2-1 against them. So we have a 5 man in midfield against their 4.

I would drop Knowles as we need a more defensive player on the right to combat their strong left side.

Bring on DJT towards the end of the game
