Disagree - I think Stirk is very much up to the level - he’s very comfortable on the ball , gets his head up and normally picks exactly the right pass.
I’m on about previous months.
I get the frustration, we’re all hugely frustrated. There are ways and means of expressing that frustration though. Shouting at Boycott post match outside of the stadium and using industrial language when he’s fronting up and taking to fans isn’t right nor do I believe us booing the team back onto the pitch for the 2nd half and cheering our keeper being sent off.
It’s all frustration and the fact we are utter crap.
I wouldn’t do that personally, but I certainly understand why people are increasingly pissed off.
Gordons “effort” to block the cross which led to the first goal was a disgrace. He stood 3-4 yards off him so he had time to look up and deliver the cross. Compare that to how close they successfully got to us when we tried to shoot/cross. It is a problem we have had all year. It must be the coaching. It drives me crazy every game.
UP THE SADDLERS
I’ve been stating my concerns about Liam Gordon for ages now.
What the hell does he actually do? He goes on a few runs (nothing hardly ever comes of them), he’s not the best defensively, and has about 3 assists in 18 months.
Crap. Bog standard league two player.
Each to their own. Sadly if you are Boycott though you’re probably going to think twice about openly engaging with fans after the game if that’s how you are treated. I note that Pomlett stormed off straight at the final whistle, I dread to think the abuse he would have got if he engaged with any ‘supporters’ yesterday.
Also whilst the game is in play get behind the team, we were outsung by a quite superb travelling support from the first whistle. The first half was unacceptable so I can understand booing them off even if it’s something I wouldn’t participate in but why the hell would you then proceed to boo the team back on 15 minutes later? (Hutchison was totally ineffective yesterday and when he got hooked and couldn’t change the game he got a standing ovation from behind the goal as well when he walked round with adults high diving him, bizarre).
Because we are 16th in league two and 3-0 down at home to Newport with 0.1% chance of coming back?
Taken in isolation, I don’t think there would have been that reaction yesterday. But this is just pure frustration from 10 years of decline, and 5 years of not being able to compete in League Two - despite promises made by Pomlett and Boycott.
Thats why people had enough yesterday. That’s why we have wasted another season, and that’s why the fans haven’t taken to this stupid cheap option appointment.
Difficult to watch. Got exactly what we deserved. Disgusting.
Why’s Pomlett storming around? He’s responsible for the mess!
I thought the booing was for the tannoy bloke and his nonsense? I might be wrong but that was what I thought at the time.
And the booing of Priestley getting the MOTM award surely wasn’t for him, it was for the general team performance, and Sadler, and also the saftness of announcing a MOTM award when we have just been taught a few lessons by a team who were two points ahead of us and who had supposedly been in a total mess in the close season.
Yesterday was hugely disappointing because right from the start Newport were far superior to us and it didn’t make for an enjoyable spectacle.
The game was over at fifteen minutes and in fairness in those fifteen minutes they absolutely dominated everything.
We never looked like getting anything out of the game.
At the end of the match I just got up and left so I’ve no idea what went on but I’ll give credit to BB for having the backbone to face the disgruntled fans.
We have a tendency to react to what happens on the pitch which lets be honest is the main reason we go but things are beginning to take shape (the freehold and locker) but ultimately after years of bugger all on the field of play to get excited about supporters are bound to become restless. I won’t and never will call for one of our players to be sent off but that’s just me personally.
It seems to me after Jackson was dropped (unfairly in my view) it was only ever going to take a match like this for tempers to boil over and it seemed aimed at Sadler as much as Evans.
I listen to MS giving his post match interviews and although I wouldn’t expect him to say certain players were awful I would say to him stop talking rubbish because we have a habit of getting out of the blocks at a snail’s pace and he constantly talks about it’s not like us to be like that. Really Mat, take your blinkers off. Yesterday Newport were excellent and we were poor.
The frustration is Walsall who have spent most their lives in league 1 can’t even challenge for top 10 in league 2! Being outplayed by Newport barrow and Sutton
It really hurts and it’s really frustrating
Then we go hire sadler of all people to change it around
It’s a mess and fans are having enough
The atrocious atmosphere at home is a sign the fans have had enough , this team and manager have lost the support of all but a few optimistic fans
Trivela have there work cut out to make anything out of this dying club
I haven’t been able to attend for some time, and therefore feel unable to comment on the performances at the present time, but watching those highlights It’s the reactions after the goals for me. Nothing. Just turn round and amble back.
They don’t give a shit, they know the season is done too.
That point was made by one or two I was speaking to at the match, and also in the pub afterwards.
Why didn’t Faal just shoot across the keeper which was a much bigger target, instead of going for the near post, where the keeper was actually standing? Did he really score 9 goals when he was on loan at Doncaster?
He definitely snatched at the chance and he went for power over precision. Hopefully, DJ and Byfield can rally around him because he looks like Adebayo when he first joined us, at the moment. There’s a player there but I think both Gordon and Faal need to open their account sooner rather than later. Peter Crouch had a wretched time at Liverpool when he first joined them but once he got up and running, he was scoring bicycle kicks in European competitions.
Confidence is such a precious commodity.
We got given a corner at the start of the second half. O K the game was probably done but Earing spinted over to take it and looked up when he placed the ball to see our centre halves ambling towards their positions in the box. Earing gestured and shouted at them to hurry up.
Just summed the nature of the performance up and the general mentality of the players at times. It just seems too cosy. When things are going well we can start to dominate teams but no one did anything to alter the course of that game yesterday.
The lack of any reaction in the second half was has disappointing. Im not expecting them to pull 3 goals back but there was no urgency or fight, just going through the motions.
I dont think we managed a shot on target second half
I thought that too. In some ways the second half was as disappointing as the first. A real chance to earn a bit of pride back against a team who were going to take no risks. There was nothing.
First 10 minutes we should have had a real go.
