Since DJ’s return from injury in March he has only featured from the bench, coming on at MK in the 75th minute, against Salford in the 86th, and at Doncaster after 67 minutes, so a total of 32 minutes plus stoppage time. He has been an unused substitute 5 times.
In those 8 games we have obtained 8 points. Josh Gordon has started all 8 of them.
He is clearly onside so it was a mistake. We all make mistakes but that could have changed the game however we missed a lot of good chances in the second half so we can only blame ourselves.
May have been done by the exaggerated lean forwards by Gordon as he set off to meet the ball and as Thanatos says did Foulkes obscurevthe position of their LB.
Looks tight though and without VAR surely the benefit should go to the attacker.
Still, Mansfield none goal well over the line etc etc
The point I think you’re making is that because JG is so poor, Saddler should play DJ more. Bizarre. There is a simple reason DJ has started so few games, it’s because he has been abysmal. Mansfield away was particularly embarrassing. Ninety full minutes of ineptitude. Equally, there is a simple explanation of why he used sparingly as a substitute. His appearances as a substitute have been abysmal too.
What a strange game it was. I don’t think I have ever seen a team like County, putting themselves under pressure at the back - their goal kicks were our attacking opportunities. But they break with real effect and will always scorer goals.
Far from being outplayed, I thought we could easily have won. Faal should have put his header away although he did take his goal well - nice contribution from DJT for the goal and a great ball from Gordon who was our MOTM by miles.
Once we went down to 10, there was no way DJ was going to come on but I thought we played with some spirit after Comley’s departure. I can see his two bookings were reasonable but there were other tackles as bad that did not lead to a yellow card.
The lack of experienced really showed after we got our goal. We were really in the ascendancy and with plenty of time left on the clock we just needed to regroup and sit in for a few minutes, get our composure and go again. To go all gung ho and press straight away played into their hands
Just not true is it I mean never mind the fact his goals per minute is better than any striker other than Faal, how the f*** can anyone be “abysmal” just getting five minutes a game? Just hyperbole to try and defend the stubbornness Sadler has created all by himself.
Agreed Foulkes went running up the pitch leaving the gap which they exploited. We needed to take our time and then hit them again. We could easily have drawn or even won it.
