L 3-1 vs Stockport County (A) - League Two - Sat 13th Jan, 3pm

I don’t buy the hate, he certainly is not as bad as some make out but we do need to sign someone there. He clearly isn’t going to trust Foulkes.

He certainly puts the opposing defenders on the back foot and no defender likes being ran at for 90 minutes.Gordon had a poor game on the other side today but he’s improved so much offensively this season I certainly don’t hold anything against him for today’s performance, it happens nobody plays well every single week.

Yeah they were better but we weren’t great
Nothing else to say I’m not upset by the result I’m not angry . They are up there for a reason

Very poor performance. I’m a massive DJ fan but he looks half the player than his loan spell, think Sadler has killed him. DJT is just not EFL standard, “2goals in 2 games” means nothing to me as he simply adds nothing. I am concerned that unless we turn in a great performance and 3 pts next week the improvements will be a thing of the past. Let’s hope for a couple more signings to spark us again before the rot sets in!

I get the point about spending, money can, but not always, buy success. However we have to be better against those clubs we are perceived to be on a level playing field, that is the progression the club should be looking to achieve next season. I’d expect Chesterfield might throw some cash at it and there is still Salford, although I think the ManUtd lot will get bored soon

Weirdly I thought when Foulkes came on at Southampton, playing behind Knowles, it actually looked quite a good combo and improved us.

Yep, today he (and DJ and Gordon) were ineffective given the opposition and the style of football.

Absolutely we did.I agree with @Thanatos the three we have on the books are all too similar in nature and either of them playing together in this league won’t work.

I’m no huge DJT fan. But to say two goals in two games means nothing is pretty ridiculous :joy::joy:

We have played worse and won i think today’s result was mixture of individual mistakes and the quality of the opposition. I think the overall performance wasn’t too bad. We desperately need someone up top who can hold the ball up especially away games.

Stockport will more than likely be promoted automatically this season, so I’m not too disappointed in the result and wont overreact after a loss. We just need to keep building and progressing and hopefully we will get a good return from our next few at home to keep some momentum going.

Dont think todays 3-1 result is as bad as it looks on paper.

First goal no GK would of saved that , 2nd a complete fluke cant say anymore about it 3rd a penalty that again no gk would of got near.

Liam gordon was poor today MOTM Tom Knowles was effective throughout

Annoyingly we only lost because of mistakes yet again
Even when teams play better than us they don’t beat us on merit most the time
We give them ways to score, that’s what’s so frustrating

The beauty of football and opinions I guess.

Knowles was affective attacking briefly, but a liability again defensively. The free kick for their second goal was given away by him.

Twice! He did the same thing twice

Don’t think we played as aggressively as we did against Wrexham, and think that’s why we got different results, but that’s ok because we are still a work in progress. Lots of promising signs again, and I think we will push for top 7 next season.

Who’s Lee?

I don’t think he has ever truly, been away.

Just on the train back. Disappointed to lose obviously but not all doom and gloom.

First half was a non-event really, great time to respond right away and just before the break. Fair result at half time.

Started second half strongly, on top, pressing well and seeking out a second. Their second just knocked the stuffing out of us and they went hunting a third to kill it off. We withstood well until Liam gave away the pen then it was game over. They just went up a gear and wanted to kill us off whereas we wanted to tickle them into submission.

Positives:

  • Thought Knowles did alright, always offering an outlet, trying to take on his man, some good control out the air
  • Comley is solid, a good screen for the defence
  • On the whole, think Smith’s distribution is solid and made a couple of good stops

Negatives

  • Daniels will give me a heart attack at this rate with his exploring up the pitch.
  • Is that the third goal conceded straight in from the left (Crewe, Accrington and today)?
  • We often tried to be too intricate, everything sprayed wide rather than on the floor through the middle. Put a lot of pressure on Knowles and Gordon when we know their end product isn’t the best. Effectively we play DJ out the game (and latterly Gordon).

Officials let a lot of stuff go and seemed like they just wanted to be elsewhere. Stockport very physical and played to their strengths but sometimes thought it warranted a free kick.

Didn’t truly expect anything today, more important to win these upcoming home games.

Onwards and upwards
