I was. I was just ‘testing the water’ in terms of other fans take on things
Apparently it does to some people.
I want Sadler to succeed and I know it’s early in the season - but I really don’t have any faith in Sadler. I find his decision making bizarre.
I’d agree. As bizarre as the appointment itself. 2 months to appoint a rookie, associated with failure already at the club
Sadlers no 1 fan Completely Saddled didnt last long did he. 2 games. Gone
Watching from afar and refusing to get drawn into the nonsense.
Perfectly happy with what I’m seeing thanks. I watch with a level head and judge much more rationally.
I’m choosing to not post thanks.
What about the defence Sadler has designed which you can now drive a bus through?
My DMs are open I find it separates those that actually want to discuss football from those who simply want to troll. It’s worked well for me for over a week
3 things strike me from those extended highlights;
-
Foulkes is having a hard time of it defensively. Of course, the first goal is down to a poor clearance, but also take a look at his positioning on the 2nd goal where he has no idea where he should be or what he’s doing. That’s going to happen with a young player. The flip side is that he was clearly involved positively in some very good attacking moves.
-
DJT is at the very heart of many of those attacking highlights, both in terms of his touches on the ball but also his movement off it. That goes completely against those who said he was drreadful and did nothing. Of course, he should have had a goal to his name as well, but you can see exactly what he was cleverly trying to do in heading back across the keeper and you can also see that there’s noone more disappointed than him in the fact that he got it inches wrong
-
I’ve seen some saying Maher is clearly not ready. Again, to be fair, from those highlights he could very easily have had 2 goals to his name so whilst I’m sure there are aspects of his game that need to improve if he is to secure a starting spot in the team, there are real positives there.
It’s not trolling talking about our defence. We are leaking goals for fun. Everyone is talking about it
In fairness he hasn’t posted for a bit. Up to him if he wants a break from posting
I watched the full game and can honestly say Maher looks way off where we need him to be he needs to go out on a season loan and get some game time.
The problem with Maher is not what he does when he has the ball, but his positioning and movement off the ball. The young poet who came on to replace him did well and was involved more because he instinctively knew where to run to.
Then see my comments about Foulkes as well. Perhaps it’s a rare youngster who does have that positioning skill? Good news about Thomas if so.
Maher is a threat when he receives the ball on the edge of the box anywhere else he seems quite wasteful with it. Loads to learn still hopefully will come with experience.
Thank you for posting this. Its measured and correct, at least from where I was sitting.
I came away from the game disappointed but encouraged about the potential of the players. Reading some of the reactionary posts on here felt worse than the defeat, many from people who didnt go and use the result and bias to make a judgement.
The supporters that make those snap judgements are important, what they say is through passion and a deep care of the club. I would say they are probably better supporters than me as I chose career and more lately family over my season ticket 12yrs ago.
I go to as many games as I can and so far have enjoyed all of them (missed two this year). Im almost an outsider and I have watched from afar the decline of the club. Our current expectations are unrealistic and no one else is talking about how Walsall are in the wrong league. This is our level now and I want us to play our way out of it. Earn the right to go up comfortably not just because historically we were a division above.
What people always used to say was if you give 100% in the shirt then thats enough, but it isnt really. Most fans value results over everything else and see the scoreline beyond the individual performances. Facts are once this group gel they will rip teams apart and it COULD be some of the best football we have seen for years.
Thats my hope.
Yes that’s what I thought, although no-one appeals and maybe he used his knee to control the ball? Difficult to see
A couple pointed to their hand but you can’t protest anymore or you picking up a booking.
It could have been shoulder, knee… I was sat side on so it was difficult to see clearly.
Your first point is spot on an hasn’t been helped by our injury issues at the back. With Priestley out, we’ve had a really inexperienced right side of the back five. Someone with more experience than Williams, and McEntee when he’s played there, would be pulling Foulkes into the right positions and coaching him through games. Even when Knowles is back, assuming he’ll be first choice in that position, he’ll also need the guidance of an experienced head for the defensive aspect of that RWB role
you missed out head and toes
