I think we may as well start thinking about who will be able to get in January to replace Draper, because if he carries on like this he wont be here passed the middle of Jamuary
I stopped overnight in town centre cos i couldnt get train home. Had a wander round yesterday and today. The town centre has got some really nice historic atchitecture, i thought it was nice in parts, certainly nicer than Walsall Admittedly parts are rundown, few old arcades that looked empty but thats the same in many places
Wow just wow. Keeper shouts for it. Left back decided to header it. Keeper goes crazy. Left back apologises.
Not so sure Bennett went back because of his form and because of Cambridges lack of it.
If Lincoln are doing ok would make sense for Draper to be playing here. Think they only play with 1 striker too.
Maybe it was the time of night. We were in the town centre between 6-7:15 and the place was dead.
Walking back after the game it was the same, bar s few screaming banshees and general loons.
The poiny I was making was that the song we sing is often not apt when compared with Walsall, but in this case I thought it was.
Beg to differ but I respect that others will see it differently.
Nowhere near a top league 1 player even at his best top league 2 player possibly Romaine Sawyers was a top league 1 player he is miles away from reaching that level if he ever does which remains to be seen that said i do like him but at times he should be subbed like last night does him and the team no good leaving him on when he has a bad game.
I don’t think he played badly last night. He was a real threat to them.
I agree. Hutch is always a threat when in possession in midfield, and as with most good attacking midfielders and wingers, most of the time the threat comes to nothing, usually because they are looking to do something that lesser players do not.
It really annoys when skilful players who are trying hard to create something get criticised, I would much sooner have attacking players in the side who are prepared to take on a defender, than one who usually goes for the safe option.
I think the lad needs to scan more - be more aware of the spaces and positions of the other players around him before he gets the ball. That should cut down his decision making time, as hopefully he’ll know what he wants to do before the ball gets to him.
He’s not far off imo
Absolutely agree.
It helps if he traps the ball first time. I still can’t get not passing to DJ v Stockport and likewise a strange non pass v Morecombe. Needs to replicate the second half against Stockport.
I like Hutch but like many players opinions get divided. He seemed to do ok last night, was certainly trying to make something happen.
I do think there’s a case to be made for him releasing the ball a little sooner at times but he has talent and he’s still developing.
What was very noticeable was as soon as he got the ball their defence was at him in numbers which in itself says something.
Hutch is anonymous when ‘the chips are down’, which unfortunately is far too often.
I think Hutch is part of our holy trinity in him, Daniels and DJ.
Great player - he’s essentially trying to do 2 men’s jobs in his current role. That’s down to the manager playing a centre half with him.
Thats a good point.
Agree very much with that and when we ship a few goals DD will start getting the same criticism because he his also trying to do a two man job as you say until we get the defence right players and formation .it’s gonna happen I’m afraid .and its unfair on those individuals .
Great point.
I said to my dad at HT that two of the three centre backs were like Watkiss and Smith from years ago. In that they are happy to just make the header rather than having the ability or nous to do something with the header. In the mid 90’s we replaced Watkiss and Smith with Mountfield and then Methven then Viveash. Once it was Mountfield and Viveash it wasn’t a case of just winning the header, it was a matter of that header being the clearance into a place that posed the least amount of threat to our goal.
Yeah i do understand what you are saying, and you didnt need to be quite so patronising in your initial paragraphs!
I obviously know that other teams will make mistakes and concede like we did on tues night, we all ‘take our turn’ to a certain extent, but my point was more about not winning more games than losing if we made errors like we did each and every game (which obviously i dont think we will).
I agree there were elements of our performance that were pleasing e.g. Some of the attacking play \ intent and maybe i commented incorrectly and too generally on your whole post which may have been the misunderstanding
Still looking forward to the next game! I hope we can build on the relationships with our players and continue to back them.
If players are getting abuse at this stage then thats unacceptable. Id rather we supported them and criticise on here than at the ground. It simply doesn’t help.
Regardless of what you think, this is our club and our squad. Moaning or abusing players isnt going to change that it just demoralises and alienates the players. No one wins in that situation.
I don’t know if they’ve been coached to try and keep the ball moving and in play.
But the amount of times a Wrexham player dropped off and we just headed it to their feet was criminal.
