They said the same about Sawyers
Funny how the only one being so high and mighty is the only one with the abuse
He can’t turn water into wine but some on here would question otherwise.
Still dissection of Hutch is ongoing. Well, he either slows down the thinking process a bit or there will be better players around him, who will know what they should do. He’s not that good at single handedly influencing results, but he is good enough for this level. I don’t wanna think how the creation part will look without him.
Your letting your happy clapping excitement run away with you. Hutchinson is no where near a top League 1 player
Appreciate you’ve probably seen very few games in League 1 so can’t really judge
All the players down the Vivid Ink Walsall tattoo studio today apparently 50/50 I Hutch or I like Hutch
I said similar he isnt yet but its possible he could be with a bit more consistency thats up to him.
I’ve read a lot of the comments on here about Hutch.
He is getting considerable criticism which, in my opinion is not justified.
He is a very skilful attacking player who gives us several options and outlets.
Of course he is not the finished product - he is still young and learning, but I would much rather watch a player trying to play the way he does than a ‘soldier’ playing militarily ( Kinsella comes to mind ).
He needs coaching, that’s for sure, but he’s exactly the type of player we need to hang on to if we’re serious about climbing the leagues.
Ironic calling out criticism of Hutchinson whilst seemingly criticising Kinsella in the same post.
It isn’t an either or as they played different roles. 11 Kinsella’s and we would have been lucky to score more than 5 goals in a season. 11 Hutchinson’s and we would be lucky to keep goals conceded to under 10 in a game. Played together, utilising their skill sets properly with other players around them contributing different skills and all on the same wavelength with a functioning game plan and you don’t have to be world beaters to get out of this league.
You’re right. It’s like comparing apples with pears but sorry for the misunderstanding - that’s not what I meant.
Different players, different positions.
But it’s about the mentality.
Lots of fans love Kins but players like him are never gonna get us of of this league.
We HAVE to have players with skill to succeed. Like I said, with the right coaching Hutch will do well.
I would say he isn’t far off being that though.
He has the numbers for goal contributions and has alot of league appearances.
He’d suit a better team with more quality because of the vision he has. Like @Thanatos said the other night, maybe his performances aren’t the problem and it’s more the fact it’s the formation/system he’s playing in and the fact he’s got a midfield partner who is a centre back by trade?
That is without question, but given most people seem to accept a top half finish this season will be progress, should we achieve that Hutchinson will have been here for two seasons and not gained promotion with us, so will have achieved exactly what Kinselladid.
However it isn’t about Hutchinson or Kinsella, it is about putting together a team where the sum total of the parts is better than the individual. Big question is whether Sadler has done that and can bring it together.
There is a place for Kinsella in the current set up - he could play the holding role, with Stirk on the left and Hutchinson on the right of the 3. We are short in midfield, both in numbers and in quality - we need to address this. Currently, the investment made in the squad points to a lower-to-mid table finish - perhaps that’s our new level and we just have to accept it.
Unless Trivela are just telling us what we want to hear, it’s not a level they want to accept either. Time they proved they mean what they say.
I’m still not clear what a US investment fund see in a historically lower division English football team. Unless promoted to the championship, there’s no money in owning a team. I see no evidence in either management or squad investment that thisis the ambition of our owners.
Give trivela and Sadler time. The philosophy this season already seems more positive.
Fans have to get out of the Kinsella, White, labadie et al philosophy. These type of players were never going to lift the club either in terms of entertainment or points on the board.
We have to take some risks to improve.
Yes, it’s a really good question. One that should be discussed far more on here.
Possible thoughts
-
using Walsall as a vehicle to bring in cheap foreign talent and selling on for a massive profit. Not necessarily sustainable in the long term though, and not clear why anyone would buy Walsall in the future because of this.
-
growing the Walsall fc fanbase and cashing in the associated profits from this. I think this is possible given the potential Walsall fanbase and the increase in football attendances post pandemic. Plus there’s interest from more women and ethnic minorities in football to be capitalized on
-
growing the Walsall brand and cashing in on this. E.g having official business partners. E.g having the Walsall women’s team play at the Bescot and associated income from this.
Easier said than done mind. -
selling Walsall tv rights to fans if tv deals evolve in the future to allow them to do this.
This is all hypothesis. It’s still not clear to me how Trivela do intend to make a profit.
They cant even get a size medium in a top never mind anything else
Is that right? I hadn’t heard there were issues with strip availability.
Given the stadium purchase, I’d imagine the investment must be in the region of 10 million? What would be regarded as a reasonable return by the fund investors? I’m sincerely hoping that the type of approaches you suggest are their desire.
