Rushall Sadler knows for a fact ?
The Power of UTS
Simkin and stoke running the club now ?
Hornby signed after Simpkin and I’m pretty sure his playing time was agreed as backup as part of that deal.
I think Hornby has had the better start to his Walsall career. He won us the game vs Fulham and got us through 2 penalty shoot outs. Infact the only one we lost was when Simpkin was in goal.
I like Tommy as a keeper though, and fully expect him to play against Chesterfield. Think it’s likely we pay a larger fraction of his wages if he doesn’t play, but for me that’s not the reason he plays. Can’t just drop him after one bad game, and - to be fair to the lad, he was fouled for their 3rd goal, and I thought he looked a bit shakey after that.
I expect DD to be back - probably for big Dave on Saturday. Like Simpkin, DD was signed for the first team. Good chance to rest Dave I think.
The problem is going to be keeping the balance along the back 3 - neither DD nor Williams are RCBs, and McEntee isn’t ready to come back yet.
If Hornby does start I hope it’s only to rest Simkins to manage his workload ahead of his England work, and I hope that Sadler stresses to Simkin that that’s what the situation is and is reinstated after the break. One bad performance does not make a bad player - especially in regards to a keeper.
There use to be a unspoken rule , backup keepers had to win the shirt when they got there chance through injury etc , a number one did lose his shirt over one bad performance. I can’t see Simkin losing his shirt over one dodgy goal and two goals where he was clearly fouled. Give the kid a break.
Except for 30 minutes the defense has been solid , guess it’s just time to kick the club after a couple of months break…
I don’t even expect DD back unless Dave , TA or HW are injured.
Dave isn’t a rcb either so the balance
Doesn’t change x
The Joy and Pain guy has previously stated (big pinch of salt) that he’s heard we have paid or agreed to pay Stoke a loan fee, but that amount reduces with every game he plays
Dave was only successful last season when he played central. Too slow and cumbersome for me at RCB. He has too much ground to cover when movement is an obvious weakness. His distribution is woeful too. Sub for me.
That’s the issue for me too. Fine as a kick it, head it centre half but really struggles when he’s isolated in wider areas against pace and decent movement. With Harry Williams showing really good form and having more to his game, I don’t see a scenario where Dave gets back in centre.
The bigger worry is that he isn’t learning from his mistakes. He’s given away two penalties in the space of a couple of weeks from identical challenges. It’s still really early days for him in his career, he’s been relatively solid and I think he’s an asset to the club. He just needs to improve on his decision making and sticking to the basics when things aren’t going well
The best back 3 now is McEntee Williams and Allen… (in my opinion).
Macca is becoming a bit of a sick note - and it is a concern moving forward.
That’s just the way it is, some things’ll never change…
Simkin was in goal against Exeter for the penalty shootout win, where he saved one of their penalties.
The club will not confirm/deny/release any information about contracts, and that’s how it should be.
Anyone know where along the backline Mr 100% plays?
Saw him play in the middle of a 3 for Rushall
He does have the range, however.
Bit concerning he’s been called up despite his injury issues. This is how it must feel to be a champions league club, and I finally understand those managers that moan about their recovering players being selected.
That’s the problem with unsubstantiated rumours. They just circulate until they grow legs and become fact.
I mean, just think what has been achieved on the pitch, to date, in spite of our massive budget cut. It’s also amazing how that ‘fact’ has dissipated due to the start we’ve had.
