New contract for Sadler

I’m sure you only post when we lose.

Totally shocking today. It looked like no one had any idea what they were doing.

I cant believe how clueless they were

I’d jacked in going half way through this season and to think a few weeks ago I was wondering if I’d regret it. :joy:

With him in charge I’ll not. Couldn’t inspire a gnats erection.

Let’s see what funds are made available by Trivela. Personally I wouldn’t trust Sadler with those funds - if he thinks DJT, Josh Gordon and Knowles are footballers then we have no chance.

Big summer ahead but I doubt that Sadler has the experience to see the errors he has made in terms of personnel and formation and it will be much of the same inconsistency until he eventually gets sacked mid season. What Trivela see in him I do not know unless he is just a cheap option!!

DJT needs to be released, he is levels below league 2 and has a frustrating arrogance about him. I think you are wrong about Sadler though, We have turned a corner and finished in the best position in several years in one of the hardest league 2s. We lost 8-2 against Bristol the last game before the league 1 promotion run, and finished with a -4 GD in 14th. Smith was gone before December, I think with the runs with have gone on this season, Sadler needs to work out how to stop leaking goals and we could be challenging at the top l, the board obviously agree with that which is why they are protecting there asset with a longer contract.

Whilst i agree with the sentiments of doubt, i still dont believe Sadler is signing players. He has a say of course but there is more at play these days.

DJ is an obvious example of that too.

As the fans favourite ?? The so called coach as already stated on lip service that “We weren’t able to do that and I think building into next year”. The season starts in August 2024. Are we giving him till Christmas to pull something out of the grotto and hope in his own words 2025. In his defence, what defence - he’s just like all the other rabbble who take your hard earned money and spin crap to anybody who believes he will get us promoted. NO CHANCE. Feel sorry for all you believers. Sorry but as an ardent fan for 51 years, that’s reality - always a WFC fan.

If what I’ve heard is true and Sadler thinks we were the better team today then doesn’t need a new contract, he needs putting in a padded cell for his own safety :open_mouth:

We have given a contract to a manager who

Has put us rock bottom possession wise.
Ships an alarming number of goals in
Produces Jekyll and Hyde form
Has dismantled a pretty solid defensive side from last season

He’s had more fire power than any manager at this level.

This is a disaster for the club.

Could well be it depends on Trivela he doesnt need to be brilliant if they put there hands in there pockets and invest some serious cash in the playing side but will they ?

I’m really not against Sadler, or the new deal. In reality it won’t make much difference.

For context to your post though.

Half of the games you are referring to were at a higher level.

I read read yesterday that it is the most goals we have conceded for 24 years. I don’t know if this is right but we conceded more than we scored, which will always be bad.

I said at the outset it was a bad move, but genuinely don’t care if I am wrong, being wrong would be good. So far not bad, but not great either.

We conceded more (two more) in the Great Escape season, although as Jonny Brain was our keeper for a lot of games I’m not sure it should count for record purposes. Other than that it was 99-00, with four more conceded, when we were trying to punch above our weight in Division One, as I think it was called then, so 24 years.

It’s an interesting statistic, when you think we have been relegated three times since 2000, and also how shambolic we have been so often. We conceded fewer goals the season we went down with Merson/Broadhurst. And scored a lot fewer of course.

If you are going to out score teams regularly it becomes a bit irrelevant how many you concede, that approach would certainly be entertaining.

As the stats I posted recently show, we haven’t posted a positive goal difference since entering League Two.

Going back to 2004/05, not a single team has finished in the playoffs or higher with a negative goal difference, not one. Newport secured the last playoff spot in 2018/19 with a goal difference of 0, but they are an anomaly.

We simply have to break that cycle, no ifs no buts.

The question is would there be an outcry if he was let go.

The goals against stats make it easy for the club to move him on.

Interestingly, perhaps, only one team in the Great Escape season conceded more than we did, and that was Brizzle who were relegated. One team conceded the same number as us, and that was Posh, who were promoted from fourth place via the play offs. But they did score 106 goals. I think that was the season of Mackail-Smith getting loads. They must have been an exciting team to watch.

Rewarding failure. Has not noticed the weakness of his three at the back.Other managers quickly did and resorted to attacking on the wings particularly on our right side . EG. Wimbledon and Milton Keynes Dons.

I sit in the upper and this front foot football that keeps being spouted by Sadler is rubbish, we constantly keep getting outplayed at home even those in the " bottom " half they have more possession in and around OUR box, i say to those around me " why can’t we do this " , if it was front foot football we would be in and around their box controlling games and as been said we have one the lower possession rates
