And risk losing him and then the huge positive momentum we’re experiencing (that he’s built) erodes?
Don’t know why you are so negative about him and this situation

A contract is a contract he’s under one.
Whilst I understand what you are saying.
If heads are getting turned while doing a good job then that says something all together.
Same as it did with Colin Lee and Dean Smith - both knew they’d hit their limits or were close to it.
Sadler hasn’t got close to making us a play off chasing L1 team yet.
But he’s got us close to getting automatically promoted from this division.
That’ll certainly do for me.
Absolutely fantastic news, genuinely don’t think the New year could have got off to a better start. Mrs KingCrod and I will be toasting Sadlers new deal with a bottle of vintage tonight. Thoroughly deserved well done Mat and well done the club for arranging!
Give the fact we are in league 2, it would be something of a miracle but he has got us beating a lot of league 1 sides in the cup this season.
I mean that has to be some kind of wind up right?
Anyway, if you remember, Walsall extended Dean Smith’s contract at a time we were on a pretty bad run. Otherwise it is possible wouldn’t have come close to it either.
It’s not a huge gamble giving Sadler a contract, Walsall managers don’t get paid a lot. It protects us a little from him being poached.
Great news. Fully deserved for Sadler and a good bit of business by the club. We should be able to demand a better compensation fee too should the worst happen.
If Sadler is going to go for more money or the bigger challenge he will.
The only thing this poorly timed contract does is increase the Compo we get or the settlement he gets if he’s sacked
He is under contract what I’m saying is reward upon promotion. I remember the result after the last contract extension … anyone remember ?
Also consider the optics. Manager rewarded … how will a Jellis feel if he thinks his offer is to low? Or another squad member who hasn’t been offered anything yet. Tricky one.
But I’m glad he is our manager
Totally deserved contract for Mat. Revolutionary changes to our team this season. I’m sure this will encourage some quality signings and contract extensions in the next 2 weeks. Here’s to promotion
I’m getting Tom Bradshaw new contract vibes…
However, in life you can only control what can be controlled: the remainder is left to chance and interference from others.
Trivela have done what they can to protect their assets and should be applauded for that.
We live in a dog eat dog world but I’ve never felt so confident that the club is being steered in the right direction by everybody with a vested interest in the club (including the supporters).
Usual limited thoughts from you. It is far from the ‘only’ thing this new contract does
How is it poorly timed, on the back of 7 wins.
If we have been approached by other clubs it means we will get more compensation if he does go, and rewards the job he’s done so far. May also encourage some players to sign up when offered if they know the manager is in place for 3 further years.
They’re also avoiding the unstable contractual dilemmas Liverpool currently face with Salah, Trent and Virgil, due to Klopp announcing his departure, this time last year (I think)….
What I like about Sadler is how he spots problems and adjusts to suit.Notts county away being a perfect example and there are other examples where I’ve stood in the stands and thought “yep that’s where the problem lay”.I don’t know about you but I get so frustrated when managers don’t adjust things to counter the opposition and you then struggle to get results.I wasn’t his biggest fan but I have to say he is tactically astute up to yet.
Maybe reading too much into this, but maybe this hints that Sadler feels he will be backed this month to keep the squad reinforced to get the job done as well.
Plus the pay rise of course. Congratulations Mat, good on you.
Could have quite easily had his head turned when he was in the running for the Northampton, Millwall and Plymouth managerial posts in the last couple of weeks, where he would have been on much more money with any of those compared to here.
While I understand that everyone is allowed their own opinion, I wouldn’t change that for the world.
You choose to tread the path less trod by other saddlers, and I’m sure your burning ambition is to get a like for one of your posts but I can’t see it happening.
You’ve had your time over the past few years when the football has been absolutely diabolical.
Lighten up a bit @Stretch ,make hay while the sun shines because there will be plenty of times in the future when your view on football will become relevant again.
Brilliant news, Sadler has worked miracles so far and long may that continue.
A Walsall without MS incharge would be a scary thing , SO’D anyone?
Now for Jellis, Williams and Stirk to get tied down on longer contracts.
