New contract for Sadler

Fantastic News! The infrastructure of the club right now is in a fantastic position. Personally I am over the moon that the dead wood on the board were replaced with “proper football people” and people who know how to run a football club. This filters all the way down and awesome news that Mat has signed a long term deal which is also a great statement to the players.

Mat Sadler: Walsall boss signs new deal until 2028 - BBC Sport

You wouldn’t be saying that if he’d jumped ship to a League One team because there was no recognition/stability provided by the Board. It’s clear that these players really enjoy working for him, and a new contract for him might just convince a few others that it’s worth signing their own new deals.

@TomWFC92 id say we gave you an improved contract when you under achieved and want to leave now we are doing well

You are under contract, show me the compo and if you want to go good bye.

Walsall are 12 pts clear with a game in hand very attractive proposition

It’s a risk to jump ship when you can get a promotion under your belt.

Pretty simple !

Where does the underachievement come from??

He’s done a fantastic job in less than 2 seasons

The culture of the club is changing to a success based, positive model (ownership/leadership and management)

It’s obvious that opportunities will come knocking for him and losing him would be the most surefire way to upset the equilibrium you quote…. this new contract surely helps remove that concern for everyone…

Yes and I am sure it will be followed by the offer of contract extensions for a number of key players.

Let’s see … and let’s see what impact it has.

Hopefully positive.

you are very half glass empty type…
it will soon be spring and the warmth of summer will soon be upon us all. Rejoice in the warmth and joy that this new dawn will bring rather than hiding in the shade of winters past. If you need to lift your spirits before the warmth of spring, please do get in touch and we can find our sunshine together.

I think this is where we differ fundamentally. I’m convinced that none of the players (or Trivela), think that Sadler has underachieved, and is fully deserving of a new deal.

It’s why it’s trolling, no rational person can say Sadler has underachieved

The easiest decision ever to give Sadler a contract extension, just in the context of getting promoted and keeping any lingering doubt away from the dressing room.

No brainer, well done Walsall

Club is top of the league by a mile, won 7 on the trot and announce their highly rated manager has signed a new deal.

Only in the stupid world of the interweb would its impact and timing be questioned. Every other club in our situation would do the same if they could and the impact on the dressing room will overall be massively positive.

Great news.

I doubt he’d admit that he’s even got a glass, never mind that there’s anything in it.

And the mistress?

Seems like a lonely place for one individual on here at the moment

Great news on the contract extension, wasn’t enamoured by his initial appointment, didn’t do a lot to convince me last year but by Jove has he earned it this season, that is reward enough for me :clap:t2:

Reading Sadler’s comments on his new contract suggests he is here to get the job done. Sadler doesn’t seem the type of character to jump ship for more money. He seems to have lots of moral fibre (In the words of Pomlett).

Plus, he’s got far too many properties in the area to manage.

Plus all his Maroon 5 collection is on vinyl, more hassle shifting that lot to another office down Plymouth.

Great news, fully deserved :clap:t2:

Plus young family all established in the ‘area’ so would need to be a local bigger club to register with Mat I would say, plus his other business interest which is located in Brummigham somewhere
