Lee Frecklington has been spotted in the hotel and Jimmy was seen painting the lines for the expanded away stand.
So, if Darell Clarke came back you and everyone else would get behind him:thinking:
Could do worse
Somewhere @simon has seen that suggestion and is now breathing into a paper bag
If Kieron Morris”s mom had also been spotted with that group I would have lumped on mate.
Not really, past the stage of caring. I’d already made the decision to watch from afar before Flynn had been sacked, therefore I don’t particularly feel emotionally attached to the appointment of a new manager. More an onlooking interest.
Whoever we appoint if it’s got the fingerprints of Pomlett et al over it then there is a majority chance that it won’t work, problem is with every failed managerial appointment the finger of blame turns to those ultimately at the helm more. Some of our Board can’t afford another managerial appointment failure, in fact some of them shouldn’t be there to make it in the first place.
Cheer up folks…reading this thread makes for depressing reading. We have no say in who gets the job and whoever gets it will get my support so stop worrying. Remember other than Dutton the last few Managers have met with almost universal approval and just look where that has got us!!!
Is there such a thing as POST-MANAGERIAL DEPRESSION
And unfortunately that’s life, when the facts and the circumstances don’t really lend themselves to any sensible basis for positivity. We can all dream up reasons to be cheerful, wax lyrical about the next Ray Graydon or Dean Smith, but the reality is that two takeovers later we still have the same CEO who’s remit would appear to include choosing the manager, or at least have a very big say in it. Its like those films where the hostage escapes then hitches a lift off the captor, and the level of optimism eminates from some kind of “cheer up next time we reach the road and hitch a lift…” wears a bit thin after a while.
Phillips or whoever gets the job could work miracles for a couple of years before exiting for bigger and better things, but the reality is that until there’s a manager proof structure, and some genuine medium to long term blueprint that is evolved and invested in, we will continue to have an overall downward trajectory, the realisation of which is about the only thing Pomlett has got right, before the incredulous appointment of Fullarton lead him to bin his solitary good idea.
I would. He was our most successful manager since our relegation. He left due to Pomlett and our lack of ambition.
To be honest, whilst i didn’t think so at the time, part of me would agree about Clarke. Yes he was the EFL.League 2 version of the Tinkerman, but after having Adebayo and Jules sold from beneath his feet i cant blame him for wanting to walk away. Fair play he went to Port Vale and proved he could do it and got them promoted. Although i do think that Crosby played a huge part in that success.
We have had too many managers fail one after another for it to be all down to the managers. The only one constant in all of this is the Board and the current Directors. Even Inspector Clousseau could spot the link.
I agree about needing a DoF but the recent managerial appointments have met with approval from the fanbase so it is likely if a fan had been involved we would have ended up with the same appointments!!
100% agree on that.
Maybe we can all add on here who we want to be our next manager just incase anyone from upstairs is looking in on the thread, and we might be able to swing it one way or another for the one we would agree with as the new appointment.
I’ll start, not Kevin Phillips.
Not Kevin Phillips.
Why not?
Don’t understand how and why people are saying he won’t do any good.
For me there are 2 major plus’s
-
Will finally have an attack minded coach
-
May know some non-league players who could make the leap.
I personally would prefer the Cowley Bro’s but would be happy with K.P
It’s painfully obvious it doesn’t matter who they pick unless they back them and stop letting January windows destroy our season we will be in the same boat come next season.
I just think the issues are too deep for an inexperienced manager. Call it gut feel but I do not think it would end well.
If he gets it, I will be delighted to be proved wrong.
Nothing more than that.
