Panic and hysteria

in all honesty though it was a poor way to conduct business, you don’t put an agreement in place, then backtrack. That’s poor regardless of what industry your in. As soon as we became a threat to them it was always going to be the case that DJ wasn’t coming. Typical insurance salesman. Sleazy

Completely, every club in the land has to earn support…look at Chelsea, Man City etc before the investment. We just cannot seem to catch a break.

They have to carry the can, ultimately, but the club has a Marketing Officer, Sam Hadwen, who should be responsible for kicking ideas upstairs for approval. No doubt their budget is nil and they’ve learned not to bother their superiors, the CEO and COO, with proposals they know will get squashed by people who have no idea how marketing works. Must be soul-destroying working for a business where the top-down mentality is “we’ve been doing this for years. Shut up.”

Trivela, newly-anointed as potential saviours from the ravages of the Bonser years, may not yet understand the depth of the problem they’ve inherited. It’s one thing to leverage to get a return on a loan, but it’s another thing altogether to rehabilitate a club in the eyes of a very jaded fan base.

Football is ruthless. Its full of these characters. You either get smart or get done over.

Our best players were loanees, which imo is the poor business practice, here. He just pulled the rug when it was clear we could potentially be a threat with DJ. I tell you what, there are more chairman that would have sabotaged the deal than those that would have let it happen.

And I tell you which side of the fence we would have been on in similar circumstances

This isn’t your typical business though. This is football and it’s a win at all costs business.

They did what was right for them, you have to gain an advantage over your opponents and they did that.

How many season tickets would people guess that we have sold at this point in time? Does anyone have any idea when we announced last season’s numbers?

Wish I had a job where I have just been on holiday know Im of to the cricket mind you it aint that busy for him down at the bescot:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I thought Pomlett said the numbers were commercially sensitive? Sure they will be 10% or so down on last season so I’d say approx 2,500-2,700 mark currently.

“Well, Mat, we’d like to offer you the job”
“That’s great, and I’m really keen, and as we discussed at the interview phase I’ve got all these ideas, and I hope you’ll be able to honour these existing commitments to my personal time before I sacrifice the next year of my life with no time for an extended break?”
“Absolutely - mental health is important”

Do they have ruthless winning mentality?? Since the owners took over in 2010 and spent above the clubs means they still find themselves in league 2

Errrr they have doubled and posted record season tickets sales, have almost tripled average gates since we were last in the bottom division and are pretty much in the mix every single season. Eventually they will get promoted.

Everything about the whole operation is pointing forward. In fact, its a great study for you to really understand what a promotion contender looks and feels like.

Those footballing giants Mansfield, had a striker sat on the bench that we couldn’t afford.

Whilst we wheeled out Andy Williams , have you forgotten how horrific some of our games were? I haven’t

It’s almost like steady incremental progress…

The problem with steady incremental progress is people don’t have the patience for it.

There has been no progress. Incremental or otherwise.

That’s not true. It’s just not always as visibly evident in terms of on the pitch, as we’d all like

It’s football mate, you try selling incremental progress to any other fan base.

It’s complete nonsense

They have failed to achieve promotion from league 2 in the 13 years the new owners have been in charge splashing the cash. It smells sounds and looks like failure to me. No matter how you dress it up.

Okay then. Whatever you say.

Well it’s time for funky to have a little break, enjoy the sunshine and forget Walsall FC for a month or two. We can all focus on the actions of Trivela and await this amazing pre season. I’ll leave it for now for others to debate the predicament we seem to be in.

We can pick this all up again a few weeks into the season. Until then :cowboy_hat_face:

I don’t disagree but unfortunately that’s how things are unless you throw a pile of money at instant success and even then the chances are you fail.

As I said, I don’t expect people to like it agree with it or have the patience for it but it’s how it best achieves more sustainable success (in whatever shape or form that’s judged on)

No I agree, however it just won’t float when progression is finishing 4/5 places above the trap door to non league.
