Player Of The Season 23/24

Smith has also been on the bench all season so has been available. As goalies only get subbed when sent off or injured, it’s probably unfair to compare minutes played with those of an outfield player that will get more opportunities in several positions both starting or from the bench.

I’m voting Chris Hussey for both

“We got better once McEntee was out of the midfield……”

It’s a complete Myth.

We played very well with McEntee in midfield and we also played poorly.

We have played very well without McEntee in midfield and also played poorly.

As an individual in the games he’s played he was consistently one of our better performers…and the stats back this up.

As for PPG for individuals to judge a long term performance level? Got to be one of the most useless stats we’ll see without context.

How many minutes played (Adeboyega is top having played the 3rd LEAST minutes out of anyone remotely considered a first team player)

Who the games were against.

Who else was available in those games.

Hes averaging 1.33 PPG (how we judge an individual by the teams PPG is beyond me ) but hes in a bracket separated by 0.07 ppg +/- with 7 players which inc Hutch, Daniels, Gordon (L), Tierney, Stirk and Taylor Allen!!!

Incidentally none of the above would them hypothetically make our best starting 11 if individual ppg was relevent

My votes would go to Hutch (his numbers this season are amazing) for POTS and Smith for YPOTS.

It makes a refreshing change to have multiple players who warrant being chosen, instead of just going for the default option because they showed some effort.

Then don’t. Its peoples opinions, innit?

Yeah……which why I said “IM” struggling to understand and not “it’s impossible”

:+1::+1::+1:

I couldn’t care a monkeys about the stats and ppg if I am really honest.

The simple truth is that we’ve been much better with Earing and Hutch as the 8s - than McEntee (or Stirk) playing there with Hutch. Loads better.

Just what we’ve all seen with our own eyes - and the fact we have gone up the league is testament to that.

Not the only reason mind, but certainly one of them.

So you’re saying Hutch isn’t POTY?

I think Jamille Matt ‘s return to form in February has been a big part in the resurgence of teams performance .and has had a big bearing on Hutch’s performance and this P.O.S discussion the team and players have been pivotal to the run of good results .when we talk about good and bad performance particularly hutch he will like any player be better when the team as a whole is better .hope that makes sense .

Absolutely, if he had played more games it would be a no brainer

Tom knowles should be given it for his consistency

Yeah an injury- hit season hasn’t made this as clear cut in the past.

POTS - for me between Hutch, Coms and DD who had to move to an unfamiliar position following the retirement of Hussey. Honourable mention to Knowles for how much he’s improved as a RWB through the season. Hutch has it for the moment imo

YPOTS - Between Dave and Jacko. Draper would’ve walked this if he’d stayed.

Having had a think, have gone for Comley (has been consistent all season - and much underrated), and McEntee as I think his contribution shades it over Dave (over a similar number of games actually - what more would he have given us if he hadn’t been injured?)

As I said at the start of the thread, harder this year due to the number of players having long lay offs, but I think some people are basing their opinions on recent games/appearances rather than being a bit more holistic over the whole season.

I’d agree and that would be how I would go if I was voting :+1:

:joy:  A Wingback shouldn’t be judged on crossing :joy: I don’t ever want to see you criticise anyone’s opinion on football after reading that :joy: :joy:

“Primarily” is the word you missed out when misrepresenting my point there :joy:

Another MOTM for Liam on Monday

I get it, you’re upset that I disagreed with you over something at some stage. It really doesn’t have to be that personal.

You were making things personal with lots of people 6 months ago because they had a different opinion to you, some of your condescending comments to others were appalling. You don’t like it when the shoes on the other foot, funny that.

Not at all, but I am sorry you are still butt hurt from something 6 months ago. Explains a lot.
