Player Of The Season 23/24

It’s funny. Some people hold him to higher standards which you can understand, but when he’s performing at a lower level, he’s not just called disappointing or having an off-day. He’s got to be completely crap, even when he’s been around average compared to the performance of everyone else.

Hutchinson for me, without him we would be nowhere near the playoffs. If he leaves in the summer it will be a knock to us challenging next season

Probably Hutch and Dave for me, there’s a couple I could choose from the young player list tbh but I feel he’s really come on this season from where he started.

Using whoscored as an indication, 17 league games this season where he’s rated a 7+/10.

That would be worth something, if Whoscored’s ratings weren’t absolute trash. Have you ever seen their team of the season or England line ups? You may as well just look up goals and assists.

Pretty uniformative stat by itself I would say / the real test would be to take the average of all players (and do this per game) and then the difference between the average team score and Hutch’s score. That would show if he’s played better than others (or worse) - each week.

Off you go :joy::smile:

Yeh much more accurate to use the sponsors mom as a gauge….:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Although I do agree that the marks on WhoScored / fotmob etc aren’t particularly telling….

As I said earlier a much more telling number is that without his goals / assists were theoretically 17 points worse off which places us 20th and 4 points off Colchester!

Holden is plying his trade in the Cymru premier league now,so I think you can say yes he is.

Hmm I know that is two bites at that particular cherry now and I just ignored it the first time, but I don’t remember saying the MOTM is pointless? Sometimes they make sense sometimes they don’t. Think you might be on about one of your beefs with somebody else, but yes I would still take that over anything Whoscored managed to calculate.

I’d imagine we would struggle with only 10 men on the pitch all season, yeah. I acknowledged above his contribution was in the top 3 (possibly 2 after Daniels recent debacle at MK) so I’m not sure why you are trying to convince me of his importance to our season.

Yeah you see I never know if you’re ignoring a comment or you have me blocked to avoid being challenged on anything.

I don’t remember saying you had?

Nope. Directly aimed at your comment regarding Liam Gordon being MoM Monday when justifying his merits.

Classic.

The opinion of someone who’s spent the afternoon eating and drinking and most likely chosen by the wife who wants a photo of herself with her favourite player over statistical data…only when it suits :+1:

Which is why I said that it was theoretical only and the other occasion “I realise it doesnt actually work like this”

Not all about you……as much as you like it to be…but you’re the one admitting to having missed a large portion of the season and then stating how he has too many bad games to be a PoY consideration

Both

If you’re not implying I had here that is a weird post.

Well it was about the third time I’d ignored your persistence so forgive me for thinking so :joy: :joy: :joy:

Yep. 25 games now I believe this season I have attended and watched. I’d put that up against most despite “admitting” to missing a large portion (2 months, with surgery. Shameful I know).

Fine by me.

That doesn’t imply that it’s pointless at all. It’s just an opinion that’s all….normally of someone who wants a photo with their favourite player. The MoM from statistical data is also flawed in that it’s swayed heavily by goals and assists regardless of position……but at least it has some method.

You see if you didn’t think it was all about you you wouldn’t have considered yourself to have ignored it you’d have thought it wasn’t relevent to you :+1:

As I say almost half a season missed.

Commiserations and sympathy with whatever surgery you have had but not sure it has anything to do with anything I’ve said. Unless you want extra sympathy from me of all people? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Not what I said. It implies at some point I have said we shouldn’t judge players on MOTM and now was.

… what? :joy: :joy: :joy:

Not really. Bloody short season is 4 months :joy: :joy: :joy:

No need for sympathy at all, just pointing out admitting is the wrong word. Implies I have guilt over something or feel the need to hide something, which I do not

You judge a season by weeks and I’d judge it by games…particularly when discussing what we judge performance on….youve attended / watched 25 games and we’ve played 50 games….ill leave the math to you :+1:

No. You said we shouldn’t judge performance on statistical data from WhoScored (which I agree with) and I simply reminded you that you’d used the sponsors MoM award to Liam Gordon as a way of judging performance.

I simply drew attention to that comment.

I’d also put that up against most, but as we all know, we can all claim to be going to all the games all the time  at least I have “admitted” I have not and, as I say, would put that up against most, and certainly qualifies me to say “I have seen X player have a fair few bad games” even if he is your fave.

Course

That’s enough boring chat for one day :+1:

You just did

What I would say is, I’d take 25 games of someone who I consider to be reasonably knowledgeable over what he’s looking at as opposed to 50 from someone who doesn’t……

We all have favourite players or players that we have an appreciation of their skillset more than others we even have a favoured skillset we admire in a player……

Ok.

So are you saying you have been to all games home and away then? Great support.

25 games is plenty to base an opinion on, whether that opinion is right or wrong will often be subjective.
